I ended up getting really attached to this unicorn while I painted it. I think unicorns can sometimes be seen as juvenile or immature in present culture, but they have been imbued with so much meaning through centuries of storytelling. (Though to enjoy unicorns, all you really need is that they make you happy!)
Unicorns are connected to ideas of innate goodness and of pureness of heart, but also of elusiveness and of dreaming. I think it's easy to feel like my dreams are unicorns right now, far off, beautiful and unattainable. I guess I'll just have to keep painting them with pigment and keep them close.
