7 Questions* for Stephanie Neptune, Frederator Digital’s Lead Video Editor.
I thought you might want to find out a bit more about some of the Frederators, my colleagues who make our joint run so well everyday. They’re really special, seriously.
It feels like Stephanie Neptune has been with Frederator forever, she fits in with the mayhem so well. But, it’s actually been less than a year. You can see from her answers below that she’s a total pea in our pod. Cartoons? Natch! Music? Double natch! Total win for us!
“I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and was lucky enough to move to NYC for college at SVA. When I'm not editing videos at Frederator Networks/NY HQ you may find me DJing experimental club music around the city, or running a record label named CLEAR (USA) with a friend from back home. The hunt for sublime jams never ends! Most importantly I share Catbug's love of soft tacos ;)”
1 What are you into right now?
About a year ago I snagged a monthly morning slot on The Lot Radio where I focus on ambient and experimental music. It's stuff I've always sought out and loved, but now I'm in deep! It's also nice to take a break from the more intense jams I've been collecting for years!
I'm also into indie/arty video games at the moment. Kentucky Route Zero is straight-up one of my favorite works in any medium.
2 How did you meet Frederator?
Via the production bumpers on Adventure Time!
3 Describe your work. Is it what you expected to be doing with your life?
I spend most of my day inside a Premiere Pro timeline, editing shows like Notification Squad and Cartoon Conspiracy. It's in the ballpark of what I dreamed about as a kid, which means it's pretty wild that it actually happened!
4 Do you watch television? (Is that different to you than watching video through the internet?)
I watched way (and I mean waaaaay) too much as a kid but I haven't had a TV proper for about a decade? Since I moved to NY. And now when I'm stuck on a plane with only 10-15 channels I find the lack of agency sort of excruciating? Though I do miss the occasional feeling of stumbling upon something magical at 1am.
5 What’s your favorite cartoon of all time?
Toooooooo many gah! Adventure Time (duh), The Venture Brothers, Space Dandy, Bee & PuppyCat (duh), Macross Plus (the soundtrack is unbelievable) and Daria all vie pretty closely for my affections.
6 Where do you live? Will you live there forever?
I'm currently holding it down in Ridgewood, Queens and loving it, though I go where the wind takes me so we'll see ;)
