Some of you who follow me here may not know that I have another business; an art, design and lettering business that I've had for quite a few years. In the business, I created the above phrase, "Be Wild and Wonder" (top right) as my slogan and also sold prints, pillows and tapestries with it. It's in the process of being trademarked. That's the backstory. Now on to my point. I don't know if you've heard of the community, ClickinMoms. But I've been a longtime member of their forums as well as a subscriber to their magazine, Click (shown here). I got my copy from the mailbox today and while skimming through it, my phrase stared back at me. With no credit given. The irony is that I've always wanted to make it into the magazine but never realized that could become a reality, only I'd be an anonymous contributor, an unknown source. Be very careful what you wish for. I've had a lot of things used without my permission, one lady has my handlettering and original design tattooed on her neck. When she saw it on the Internet, she didn't imagine it actually belonged to someone and assumed she could use it. That is a danger of posting your work and putting it out there. That's what is so sad. That sources aren't checked and, sometimes an unknown artist suffers completely. An artist creates out of joy, and shares with their heart. Please always check your sources, you really never know what belongs to someone else.
