this is moreso my personal hank headcanons but anywho. it was just some guy rly. an angry blank slate for anyone to observe and tinker with. I like to think doc and hank were roommates early on after doc dissented from the AAHW. they tolerated each other at best, and really drove doc to the brink of it at worst. however being aware of maker, there was no getting around this. through the intentions of the maker, doc continued their observations from a distance, but eventually allowing closer contact once hank transformed into less of a person, less of a cognitive thing. through the maker's will, hank is stripped of its autonomy. on every one of its recoveries, doc silently slips in implants and softwares from the remnants of nexus' technologies, furthering the development of their watchdog, an apathetic carnage seeker that cannot restrain itself in the face of any logic. there is only violence. there is only madness.
at the end of the day, hank still has its own autonomous thoughts. however, they will always align with the need to fight (exemplified with how it disobeys orders that are not "kill target".) i just think it would be messed up that hank wasnt truly like this until meeting doc and quite literally having its cognitive wires rearranged. also cause i like reading the doohickey descriptions!
