Even though Love after Addiction isn’t an official sequel to Addicted, there are undoubtedly many parallels to it and I love every one of it.

Their names are the same, You Qi is an actor like later in the original novel, they did the same joke with Yang Meng’s name, they know each other from Highschool and when Yang Meng asks You Qi if he still likes guys cause he knows he used to like one of their male classmates, it is a clear hint at You Qi’s crush on Bai Louyin in Addicted.

All in all, I enjoy their new series very much. Everything feels like fanservice but in a very comforting way. Watching Mengqiqi feels kind of like coming home, as if it’s giving me closure to the abrupt ending of the production of Addicted.

I remember Chen Wen said once that he would love to come back for Addicted if he gets the opportunity and I am beyond happy and grateful that he and Lin Fengsong reprise their roles. You can really tell how much love they have for these characters and their chemistry on screen is also very nice thanks to their 10 years long friendship.

I can’t wait for this show to continue and see their new story unfold. 💖

Comprehensive Biography of Chen Wen

Chen Wen, styled Yuanti (陳溫字元悌; d. Spring 193), also called Chen Yi (陳禕), was a civil official who would be Inspector of Yang Province during the end of the East Han dynasty. Though not a member of the Guandong Coalition, he was sympathetic to its members.

Ancestry

Chen Wen came from Runan Commandery.[1] He may have been related to Chen Fan, who was also from Runan.[2]

Life

Around Spring 190, he supported Cao Cao along with Zhou Xin. As he was friendly with Cao Hong, Chen Wen himself gave him about 3,000 troops for Cao Cao. However, many of them revolted shortly after.[3][4] Yuan Shu supported a contender, Zheng Tai, to be Inspector of Yang Province, who died while trying to go to Yang Province.[5] Chen Wen may have been resentful towards Yuan Shu for this action.

In 193, Yuan Shu fled to Jiujiang after a massive defeat and targeted the nearby Chen Wen.[6] Chen Wen was either killed by Yuan Shu,[6] or he coincidentally died of illness.[1] Yuan Shu took over the province either became Inspector[6] or made Chen Yu it,[1] despite Yuan Shao's futile attempt to have Yuan Yi to lead it instead.[6]

Chen Yi

Chen Yi is very likely the same person as Chen Wen.

Chen Yi was the Inspector of Yang Province at the time of Kong Zhou's death around Spring 190.[7] Chen Yi died in the 3rd lunar year of the Chuping era, so he died in either 192 or Spring 193.[8]

As Cao Hong also gained troops from Chen Wen at this time, this is one evidence proving Chen Wen and Chen Yi are one and the same.[7] Also, after Chen Yi died in 193, Yuan Shu appointed Chen Yu as his successor, just like in the versions Chen Wen died.[1][8]
