Joy Bradford was kind and funny and not at all what Lucy might have expected from the tight, guarded way Tim treated his past. She made incredible French toast. She asked Lucy about her day and genuinely listened to the answer. She was a lovely houseguest. She was also the reason Lucy hadn't been touched in a week and it was becoming a medical emergency.

That's priceless.” “This mistake will come back to haunt you,” he had responded. “You have my word on that.” “In that case,” Everett responds, smiling eerily, “You really should’ve just gone to jail.”

A/N: Here it is! My first ever Chenford fic (look at me writing something non-reader insert lol)! This was quite different for me but also I had a shocking amount of fun and enjoyment writing this and I am so looking forward to creating this story and sharing with you all!

His body felt like it was trapped in wet sand. Heavy. Lethargic. As if he’d had way too much to drink last night and was currently trapped in the worst hangover of his life. What had he done last night again?

An unsettling twitch flashed over his body. He wasn’t laying down. He was…sitting. Why the hell would he have fallen asleep in one of the kitchen chairs? What…

He jerked his arms, a pressure on his wrists that made his tired eyes flash open. The room was blurry and he kept tugging at his arms, trying to remember why they were stuck behind him. What in the…

His body sat ramrod straight, fighting the heaviness in his bones as the room clicked for him. It was dirty, old, like some storage room in a warehouse. Tim’s gaze shot down to the metal chair he sat in, fingers feeling the plastic ties that dug into his wrists. 

The beach.

The proposal.

Lucy.

Tim strained his arms, attempting to pull the plastic loose, to free his arms. But it was too strong, too thick. It bound his legs to the chair and hands behind his back. 

Lucy. Where the fuck was Lucy?

“T-Tim?” A quiet voice echoed from behind him. His head turned over his shoulder but he couldn’t see anything beyond the dungy gray walls. 

“Luce?” he said softly. A relieved but too on edge sigh reached his ears. “Are you okay?”

“Exhausted and tied to a chair but…yeah. You?” 

“Same. You sound a couple feet behind me. You see a door or anything? I just got walls.”

“There’s uh, t-there’s one right across from me, maybe fifteen feet. Looks metal.” A wave of fatigue washed over Tim, his eyes closing for a brief moment. “T-Tim?”

“It’s okay. We’ll be okay,” he said as gently as he could, peeling his eyes open again. “I promise.”

A hinge squeaked behind him, Lucy sucking in a quiet huff of air only he could hear. Footsteps echoed off the bare walls, two pairs. 

“You really think Everett will get away with abducting two LAPD officers?” Lucy scoffed, hiding the waiver to her voice pretty damn well. 

“Yes,” said a female voice, the same one from that damn beach. 

A sharp slap rang out followed by an uncontrollable whimper slipping past Lucy’s lips. Tim clenched his fists, heart racing as he pulled his wrists taut against the restraints, sure to break the skin and start bleeding.

“Touch her and I’ll put you in the fuckin’ ground.” Footsteps walked around the room, Tim catching movement before the woman stepped in front of him. A few drops of blood tinged the back of her hand, Tim audibly growling.

“One little slap and she starts bleeding?” The woman laughed, leaning into Tim’s face wiping her hand off on Tim’s cheek. His heart clenched at the feel of Lucy’s blood on his skin. He’d killed people before but had never enjoyed it. It made his skin crawl if he thought about the lives he took too hard. But this bitch? Oh, he’d love to snap her neck the second he got his hands on her.

“Why don’t you swap places, see how much she can make you bleed.” The woman’s lip quirked up at that, clearly enjoying his attitude. 

“You should have taken the bribe.” Tim rolled his eyes, hoping to turn the focus on himself and keep Lucy out of harm’s way for as long as he could manage. 

“Because he’s the first person that ever turned down Everett? Yeah, right,” scoffed Lucy. Tim grit his teeth. Goddamn her stubborness. He flinched when another smack echoed in the room, Lucy breathing hard. “That…all you got?”

“Enough,” Tim cut in, glaring up at the blonde woman. “I didn’t take the fuckin’ bribe. Obviously you want something or you would have killed us already.”

“Not just a pretty face after all.” She ruffled Tim’s hair before yanking his head back, forcing him to arch his neck up. 

“Spit it the fuck out,” he snarled.

“Oh, it’s really quite easy, Bradford. You’re going to get a nice little sedative and wake up at the beach. All you have to do it get Everett out. Easy peesy.”

“Or you kill Lucy.” The words tasted like acid on his tongue, torching him from the inside out. 

“Tim, don’t-” Lucy started before Tim cut her off.

“In what world do you think I’d believe that you’d let Lucy go after all that? You think we’re that stupid?” The woman released his hair, taking his jaw in her hand, more gently than he anticipated.

“I think you don’t have a choice-” A blood curdling scream tore out in the room as Tim’s teeth bit into the sensitive flesh in her hand, adrenaline surging through his views. He felt his arms come loose, something wet and sticky over his own hands. He’d cut his own wrists to get free but that was a pain he was more than happy to life with. Blood dripped down them, just like the rancid iron that filled his mouth as he bit down harder, the woman shrieking. Tim could see the other man that had abducted them come around to try and help but the woman had already fucked up. 

Tim stole the knife in her hand away, slashing at the man, a grunt tearing from him as Tim got his chest and he fell to the ground. Tim thrust the knife out fast again, hitting the blonde woman in the abdomen. She crumpled to the ground when he release her hand, clutching at her stomach and the bloody mess. 

Seconds later, Tim was free from the chair, checking both of their injured captors for weapons and phones. The man had a gun and needed one more punch to be out cold. The woman, well he wasn’t worried about her getting up again with the amount of blood on the floor. Thankfully she had a phone on her but no reception. 

“Told you we’d fine,” Tim tried to joke but it came out too forced as he cut through the ties behind Lucy. He slid down in front of her, cutting through the ones on her ankles, ice shooting through his hear when he sat the trickle of blood on her bruised cheek.

“Jesus, Tim,” said Lucy, staring at his blood soaked chin and neck. 

“Take this,” he said, placing the knife and phone in her hands as he helped her to her feet. He checked the bullets in the gun, not as many as he’d like but it’d have to do. Hopefully they were in the clear but they’d have to be careful on their way out. “We stay low and quiet. As soon as we get outside, call for backup.”

“You killed her.” Tim only stared, nodding once. “Are you okay?”

“No. I am so far from okay,” he laughed quietly, Lucy wrapping her arms around him allowing herself to let out a small shake. “Stay strong a little longer for me, baby. Just a little bit longer and then we can fall apart. We’re almost there.”

“O-okay,” she whispered, clutching him tight. “Let’s go home.”

“Let’s go home.”

“The. . .other Bradford?” Lucy hissed at Angela, confused. 

Angela’s mouth fell open, a slow grin spreading across her face. “Oh. . . ohhh. This is gonna be good.” 

Harper didn’t even look up from her phone. “I’m already embarrassed for you Chen.” 

Lucy frowned, trying to make sense of it all. “Wait. . . who does he. . . is he talking about. . .” her words trailed off as the room grew oddly quiet. A few desks away Nolan was staring at her, mouth open. Celina had one hand over her heart like when she watched Rom Coms. Even Smitty had looked up from his report, a knowing smirk across his face. 

Every single pair of eyes was on her. Her stomach dropped. 

“Oh my. . .” She whispered. “He means me.”

You Belong With Me

Missing scene after 8x03. After a day spent reliving her own nightmare to help Samantha, Lucy just wants to unpack her vinyls. She doesn't make it past the couch.

Lucy had left her pasta half-finished on the coffee table. The living room was a battlefield of their new life together: a few labeled boxes that still hadn't been unpacked. Kojo snored loudly in his bed, oblivious to the mess. On the screen, images of a pileup in San Diego flickered silently. Tim had muted the TV as soon as he'd seen Lucy's eyelids start to droop. Lucy had fought to stay awake and promised herself she'd sort through her vinyls after dinner—the Italian Tim had ordered. But the Kane case had drained her. Tim felt her head dip, slide down his shoulder, then jerk back up in a purely reflexive twitch. "I'm not sleeping," she mumbled, her half-closed eyes fixed on the carpet rather than the TV. "I… I was just thinking about Samantha's statement." "Sure," Tim replied, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth that she didn't see. "You've got your eyes closed to visualize the scene better, right?" "Exactly. It's a… cognitive technique." She didn't even have the energy to finish her sentence with her usual sass. Her voice trailed off. Five minutes later, the "cognitive technique" had won. Lucy had surrendered. Tim leaned his head back against the couch, staring at the ceiling. He felt the exhaustion, but unlike Lucy, he didn't want to give in. Tim glanced at his watch—11:42 PM—and shifted upright. He leaned down, his lips brushing the top of her head. Her hair smelled like vanilla shampoo. "Luce…" Tim slid his left arm under her knees and lifted her off the couch. Lucy didn't wake up. Her arms wrapped around his neck, her face settling against his shoulder. He stood, barely grimacing when his knee cracked—a souvenir from his patrol years. The walk to the bedroom was an obstacle course. He stepped around the pile of books, over Lucy's gym bag that she'd left in the middle of the hallway, as usual. "You weigh a ton with all those worries in your head," he whispered to himself. In the bedroom, the light from the hallway lit up the unmade bed. He walked over, bent down, and laid her on the mattress. The moment her back touched the sheets, Lucy's eyes flew open. "Tim?" She'd sat up in one sharp movement, breathing hard. Her eyes swept the room without seeing it, searching for something—or someone—in the dark. "Hey, hey. I'm here." Tim sat on the edge of the bed, hands raised so she could see him. Lucy blinked. Once. Twice. Her gaze found his and she deflated, her shoulders dropping all at once. "You passed out during the movie," he said softly. "I carried you here." She nodded, still somewhere else. "I thought…" she started, then shook her head. She didn't need to finish. Tim understood. He slid in next to her, on top of the comforter, and pulled her against him. Lucy buried her face in his chest. "I'm here," he repeated. Her fingers gripped his t-shirt.
