Unlife is Strange: Chapter 29: “Emergency Extraction”

Story Summary: Those who die in darkness, find new life in the darkness; this is the first thing Rachel Amber learned upon awakening, as something less human, or more depending on who you ask. She gained a new mother in something ancient and terrible and now must heed her call, but something from her old life is calling her back, and she finds herself in need of new friends to help her.

On the flip side, reports of supernatural happenings in Beaver Creek lead to an attack on the small community, leaving Daniel Diaz and Chris Eriksen stranded and hunted in the wilderness; and nothing is going to stop Sean Diaz from ensuring his brother's safety. Both Sean and Rachel find themselves part of the same centuries old conspiracy, that boils down to a game played by a malevolent goddess, the war with her son, and the many pawns within.

Now part of the "Fog of Worlds Saga".

Chapter Notes: Hey, sorry for the long wait.

It took a while for me to get to this because I was mainly focused on finishing Mission to Silas and now I'm back to juggling four different stories. 

I've also been trying to get back to writing Love's Sacrifices after over a year long hiatus, as well as Screaming Until Dawn. Originally I was also going to a double feature post, but I’m still have way through Screaming’s new chapter, and a like a quarter through Love’s Sacrifices’.

There's also several IRL factors that I'd rather not go over with here, especially with where this current arc is going. If you’ve watched/watching Daredevil: Born Again, you’ll have a pretty good idea what’ I’m talking about. 

It is an unfortunate coincidence that is lining up with the direction that I’m taking this story into. It’s nothing intentional on my end.

There was also the timing with Reunion’s release.  As I said in a previous post, unlike True Colors, I don’t plan on adapting Double Exposure into this fic’s timeline, and by proxy that would include Reunion. 

With that being said, I considering implementing some of it’s characters down the road; maybe in one of my spinoff -- Caledon University has been mentioned in Screaming Until Dawn, so who knows ?

Since this current draft started to get bloated, I thought I'd treat you to at least the actiony portions of what is first part the "FBC vs AGP" arc I've been building up too for a while. As well two characters who I’ve been hoping to have meet for a while.

Content Warning: Violence, blood and gore. This is a siege/battle chapter after all. It’s not as gruesome as the “Call of the Morrigan” three-parter, but it’s still pretty nasty.

We also have two character deaths from the True Colors cast. The body-count may increase in coming chapters

I hope that at least is worth the wait.

I love how there’s no “Steph believed Alex during the vote/Steph didn’t believe Alex during the vote” in the choices at the end of Chapter 5 because she believes Alex no matter what you do in your game.

Like, no shade to Ryan, but… she’s clearly the superior friend and love interest.

“But Jed was his dad” I don’t give a fuck? He needs convincing to believe her: if you don’t have enough people on your side and if you haven’t been nice enough to him, he will side with his dad even when there’s a severely injured woman in front of him as the only evidence he needs not to, even when he has his own suspicion at the back of his mind (he implies so in text messages if you get him to believe in you).

Steph will believe you in literally every scenario: friendship, romance, rejection, whatever, she believes in you! She stands by her promise of having your back no matter what.

Right after this:

She’s in for everything!

Plus she’s a U-Haul lesbian like many of us so what’s not to like?
