Metcalf Internship Feature: The Second City

The Second City is the comedy theater that launched the careers of Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Amy Poehler, Chris Farley, and Steven Colbert -- just to name a few. It was founded by UChicago alum Bernie Sahlins, AB’43, in 1959. With theaters and training centers all over the world, their mainstage and headquarters are located right here in Chicago, where they continue to put up hilarious shows and teach classes on improv, stand-up comedy, and sketch writing. UChicago students have the exclusive opportunity to work as production interns for the Second City through the Jeff Metcalf program (you can learn more about it here).
