sometimes I forget about how unique the Chicana experience is. We really are in between two countries and two identities, especially for someone who’s a multi-generational Chicana growing up in a border city. Either way, I cherish being Latina and I have such a rich culture that I am continuing to learn about every day even if it wasn’t part of my life from the beginning. I love being able to play in mariachi and connect myself to my roots and origins ♥

My curves may be too much, my skin isn’t baby soft, nor am I acne free. I have stretch marks, my hips may be a bit too wide, I have surgical scars, I have a disfigurement, my teeth aren’t pearly white, I’m not toned, I don’t have a flat stomach, but who fucking cares. I am more than what I appear to be and I can guarantee you that I have so much more to offer than just my body. I am human. I have flaws, but I also have so many qualities that make up for my flaws. I have character, thoughts, opinions, talents, passions, and many other qualities that surpass my imperfect image. So stop defining me by my appearance. I don’t care if I don’t appeal to your standards. Enough of all this body shaming, let a woman live and embrace herself for all that she is; with flaws and all.
Happy Cinco De Mayo
I hate you all who are wearing sombreros and ponchos. Especially if you're white.
