[I made this AU in 2022 and never posted it outside Discord. At the request of folks in the Wishes Unlimited server, I'm going to post these to Tumblr. A couple other people contributed to this, mainly @azurehaiku and @bardically-uninspired! However I'm just posting my parts.]

Wheel upon the Wheel - This is the way of things.

A planet ejected from its system. A rogue planet is difficult to detect and might be lost in the darkness of space if not watched carefully.

Nature itself had given us such a magnificent canvas - could there be any question this was work divine?

Each celestial body exerts a force of attraction on itself and others. When two bodies get too close, the pull of the other grows greater than the pull within - and the lesser body will be torn apart.

☉ NIGREDO ALBEDO CITRINITAS RUBEDO
"Artists. Scholars. Mystics. For a thousand years, the Order of the Wielders has represented the highest echelon of scientific inquiry and creative expression. Though academies around the world follow it's teachings, very few are permitted into the Order itself.
The history of the Order began a millennia ago, when a wandering star fell to earth. Following its trail, the MAGICIAN came to a great tree of glass which had sprouted at the point of impact. As the light of the stars hit the tree, it was refracted into a thousand different rays. This was the first time anyone had seen colour. Taking a branch of the tree, the Magician fashioned it into a pen through which they could manifest their desires. Thus did they become the first Wielder.
Colouring the earth is a difficult task, but the greatest work is painting the heavens. No canvas could be as daunting. The night sky is as an unending dance; stars march ever forward while planets wander back and forth, comets come and go, and the moon follows its cycle. The Wielder builds upon this motion to create ever changing works of art.
Before they can work, a master must understand their tools. So, to bring order to the chaos, the Wielders recorded the movement of the stars, and noted the patterns in the motion of planets. Over generations, this science was developed into a great model of the heavens, a complex system of physics and mathematics, which the Wielders use to predict the state of the sky. The timings of full moons, the days when a comet will return, the position of a certain planet on any given day - all these can be determined in advance.
But the model is more than a tool for the astronomers… In the mythos of the Order, many cosmological objects hold special significance, and their presence in the night sky is an omen. The position of constellations, the phase of the moon, an eclipse - all these are associated with characters, events, or philosophical concepts. It is said the sky is a reflection of the mundane world. Thus, by close study of the models which predict the night sky, the Wielders hold the power to foretell the future.
These mythological archetypes are codified in a set of STAR CARDS. The common folk believe that the cards themselves have a sort of mystical power, and that a drawing of the forty-eight can tell one’s fortunes. The Order holds that only through great study of the models can the future be told. And yet, let me draw your cards, and we shall see what story unfolds…"
The back of each card depicts the Glass Tree, and the core tenet of the Wielder's philosophy - AS ABOVE, SO BELOW, as without, so within. The mind is the universe is the mind. Study the stars, understand the soul. Paint the world, create yourself.

A SEED FELL FROM HEAVEN AND FOUND FERTILE SOIL
"The harbinger. When the wandering star fell, everything changed. The card signals new beginnings for you, and perhaps the world. May the cards tell if it is for good or ill..."
They forged a pen, that they might shape the world to their heart's desire, and reveal secret forms.
"When the Magician glimpsed the refracted colours, they saw not only infinite possibilities but also how they could make them reality. Will you seize the coming opportunity, as they did?"
