ive seen loads of interpretations of asriel at the end of undertale being kind of “freed” from the evil that he was as flowey but i never really saw it that way? personally what i saw wasn’t that he was transformed back into the child he was while he was still alive AS asriel, but rather similar to how his hypergod form was the manifestation of everything he found cool, him turning back into his younger self was a manifestation of him being reminded of his childhood with chara, where he was goat asriel.
I’ve just been seeing a lot of people showing asriel as some kind of nice kind angel after the final battle but i dont think just because he can feel love now and feels bad that he’s… any better?? i mean i get hes clearly feeling bad and definitely separates himself from flowey but at the end of the day he still IS flowey.. like he had the human and monster souls at the start of the fight and he was being an asshole as per usual but at the end he just totally broke down but nothing really changed about his power or anything cuz he still had the souls.. like it’s STILL FLOWEY!!!! he’s just processing everything too fast which is why i think he acted the way he did at the end of the fight…
but ya that’s just what i think atleast, if you think different that’s fine too
tldr: hypergod asriel didnt literally turn into a kid he’s just flowey trying to process his trauma
