I wanna talk about this au so bad so I am.
The village turns into a sort of new base of operations for Chris and his team as everyone's like... dead
The lords and the winters still live in the village
This is because Chris can’t really let a bunch of somewhat hostile or easily aggravated bio weapons out in the wild
Chris is working on how to reverse the effects of the mold or stabilize it for Ethan and Rose’s sake (Also Moreau’s cause watching him exist like that is painful)
The mold makes those infected by it feel a bond much like a family, so this is why the lords saw Miranda as a literal mother figure
This is also why they immediately put Ethan, the new mold god, in the position of “father”
However, if a strong enough outside connection or emotional reaction happens you can ignore/break the bond
Why Karl was able to defy her so much. (It really was a gut punch to find out she never cared)
Karl doesn’t see him like he saw Miranda but is grateful to him
Ethan is kinda weirded out by this but he also understands seeing as he literally died to have his family back
Also like he’s 100% sure they are centuries older than him and it’s weird they call him Father
He enables it but Ethan also tries to pull them out of the mindset that he’s in charge of them
Ethan has mold abilities but can’t use them unless highly stressed
Rose can control the mold but she’s a whole baby so she also can’t
Chris is working on renovating the village to be more baby and Moreau friendly
Everyone is generally ok with this situation but it’s hella awkward
This is just some general like set up for or about the au. Since this is technically a post canon au mixed with a fix-it au some other things have changes as well. Maybe I’ll share em later.

Mine? Oh, I've just been arguing with this random person online who insists on convincing me that child leashes are such a massive necessity that you are tempting fate if you don't use them.
During this conversation, I also told them how in my country it's completely normal to leave your baby in their pram outside while you shop or go inside a cafe etc. The conversation even encouraged me to research it for a bit, and no babies have been stolen from their prams in my country since 1965. I knew this was such a non-problem here, but holy crap was that just really cool to read. I shared it with them and what did they say?
At this point, it became clear to me that either they just want to be right or they want me to be wrong so much that they almost kind of wish for this "record" to be broken? 🤨
Either way, I told them I'm not superstitious and just wished them a good day... But wow.
