I appreciate that you're well-intentioned, but please be careful when suggesting the US treatment of the Japanese was better than what Trump is doing right now. Truman deliberately used two nuclear bombs against Japan just to see how this new weapon worked. Despite what US propaganda says, there was no military reason for Hiroshima - Japan was already surrendering. So, please: this is monstruous, but we don't need to compare it to WW2.
And now for everyone who is left, let me explain why this comparison is critical.
Firstly, I said that the interment of the Japanese was vicious. It was without cause, without reason, without conscience. It was ethically appalling and my own friends were harmed during it, so I have a very personal emotional link to it. It was done to people who were members of society, citizens of our nation, . Peaceful, non-combatants, but because Japan was our enemy, the Japanese were considered disposable. The Nazis interred people in similar fashion, and it all began with the immigrant populations. Every single thing in WWII began with “disposable people” and moved outward from there, no matter which side you choose.
The Japanese who were so wrongly interred at least got to keep their families though everything else was taken from them. The Nazis took the children from the parents and often put them to death first. Taking toddlers and infants and putting them in traumatizing environments like giant concrete and chainlink dog kennels is the same thing as destroying their brain. We know that now. We know how neurochemistry and psychology works. The first five years are critical and these children are being tortured on American soil. So don’t you dare fucking tell me that’s not an apt comparison. It absolutely is.
Bombs being dropped on combatants during war is an entirely different discussion to be had. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with what I said, or what I’m saying now.
Humans, and particularly Americans, in the last several decades have had absolutely no idea what they were doing to each other. I thought they’d learn the lesson when they saw the footage of the internment camps, which were absolutely vile. I thought they’d learn when they saw the Allied footage of the Nazi death camps being freed.
Apparently they haven’t. Apparently, they think taking a two year old baby from its mother is an acceptable thing to do, making jokes about leading a symphony of screaming children who are alone and afraid, refusing to hear them when they beg for their family is acceptable. That’s not American, at least not the America I fought for. It’s not even humane. It’s villainous.
Societies are judged by how they treat the least capable of speaking for themselves. This society is crumbling.
Get the hell off my blog if you disagree. And if you cannot withstand the disgusting truth of me comparing the current situation to a history I witnessed with my own eyes, then you can piss off.
