If humans had free will and were deliberative first, they wouldn’t reproduce because sexual impulse is pre-rational, birth control is available and onsequences are known.
Yet people still have unprotected sex.
Conceive in dysfunctional relationships.
Bear children they cannot raise.
Do so under circumstances that no reasonable deliberator would ever endorse.
So, we must conclude that child-making is not the result of rational will. It is the result of blind drive, neurochemical override, and evolutionary compulsion.
And this is not the end, but only the beginning. Then post-facto people create justifying narratives like:
It was meant to be.
It brought us closer.
Children are a gift.
Everything happens for a reason.
Which are nothing but ex post storytelling to stabilize identity after impulsive action.
