Thoughts on Karamatsu cuz I'm a basic witch.

I’ve been avoiding talking about characterization stuff lately since it’s been a while since I last rewatched the show, but nonetheless some assorted Karamatsu Matsuno thoughts/opinions~

I like that he became friends with Chibita over the season! It just adds something unique to both of them and makes Kara moving in with him by ep 24 more believable

Kara’s the most in tune with his creative side which could be fun to explore more. Imagine if he did make a vlogging channel or something similar, or put on a street concert, etc.

I’m still trying to figure out just how connected he is to reality... like what percentage is him genuinely thinking he’s cool and awesome and what percentage is this as a means to escape Depressing NEET Existence™. Because I do think there’s a sizable part of him that is really living his best life and if others don’t see his appeal than it’s unfortunate for them.

He has really fun/defined dynamics with his brothers.

Kinniku became a classic since their song on the roof but then they went and did the Jyushi & Pachinko skit too

Choukei, while mostly fanon, is believable fanon? I can definitely see them play around and be dumb together, they have a similarity like that

Zaimoku is underrated but has a lot of potential imo

I ran out of things to say about Iro at this point but it’s definitely interesting

What we have of suiriku is good, like with zaimoku though they could definitely do a lot more in the future

He!!! can actually stand up for himself and HAS several times which is why I find some of the angst with him a bit too much. Taking the character in a more serious route in fanfic/fanart is fine obviously, but there’s a difference between Kara showing depth/weakness and him being emo, and he’s so far from emo imo

I do love when his facade breaks though, just in a more comical way. Like being flustered, or his voice cracking, or when he’s confused! It’s precious

aaaalright! i put it under a read more since i rambled ;; sorry mobile users 

for osomatsu, i kinda wanted to make him an ancient creature to fit with his eldest status…and i just like the idea of oso being magical and powerful! (his magic is based on fortunes! he can give good or bad luck to those he deems fit.. he also has a calming aura of sorts)for karamatsu i wanted to make him sth that wasnt a mermaid or a werewolf since thats already been done in the fandom. i chose a selkie since its a water based creature and i like the idea of kara’s furcoat being so big it trails behind him like a cape (also sharp teeth)choromatsu i wanted to make him a demon since hes assigned as an angel or a goddess in most fanwork. ofc demons is a pretty common topic in the fandom so i made choromatsu specifically a jersey devil! (yes hes a demonic horse who spouts green flames and shapeshifts)i made ichi a manticore since its a monster that has a human face and is feline-like. fitting i thinK! ( i didnt give him wings in his design since original depictions of manticore lacked wings.. also apparently they had 3 rows of teeth so ichi has that)jyushimatsu is a chupacabra hybrid (hybrid in the sense hes both human chupacabra) bcus i found the idea of jyushi being reptilian and running around like an iguana to be amusing and fitting for him. hes still dangerous however since he has very sharp teeth and long claws on both his hands and feettodomatsu is a slime monster since! its just so weirdOK LMAO i was inspired by the movie monsters vs aliens…in which totty would be created by humans and with his humanoid appearance he can more or less blend with people and socialize with them. also totty with a round and pink jelly like appearance is pretty cute! just wait until he starts to lose shape and melt tho

Reading Tata is like finding an oasis of quality and in-character Karas in the middle of a desert of exaggerated cheap OOC angst and incestuous one shots. Thank you, your writing is a blessing. Also, I hope Karamatsu eventually loses his mind after so many loops.

I know this isn’t the point of this message but my head took hold of the phrase “oasis of karas” and just would not let go and

horrific.

ANYWAY it would be an exaggeration to say that that’s exactly what I aim for since I don’t really consume enough of that desert to feel all that strongly spiteful about it but I do know very well just how expansive and oppressive that desert is so I’m happy if I can provide some relief from it!! I will do my best to continue to throw karamatsu onto the ground and beat the shit out of him emotionally (and sometimes physically)
