Bactrian Princess, Statuette (ca. 2300–1700 BCE) This composite statuette belongs to the Oxus civilization that flourished across Central Asia during the late third and early second millennium BCE. Carved from contrasting chlorite and calcite, the figure wears a voluminous garment with puffed sleeves, signifying high status or divinity.

Unlike most surviving specimens that are seated, this rare standing example reaches a height of 25 centimeters and displays remarkably delicate features. The statuette likely represented a powerful deity governing the underworld and natural cycles, serving as protective figures in tombs. Loc. Louvre Abu Dhabi.
