I picked up this bamboo toothbrush from Whole Foods a few weeks ago for only $3! It is completely plastic free, including the packaging. At first I was afraid of the bristles being tougher or less effective, but I noticed almost no difference between this toothbrush and my old one (I was previously using one made from recycled water bottles, also from Whole Foods).
If you are due for a new toothbrush and you’re on the fence about getting one made of bamboo, I highly recommend!
Growing the cotton for one cotton t-shirt uses enough water to keep a person alive for over two years. Cotton production also uses more pesticides than any other crop.
How you can help: CHOOSE BAMBOO! Find clothing made from other materials like bamboo, hemp, or recycled plastic. Keep the clothing you have for as long as you can. “Up-cycle” them for a new look once you get bored of something. After that, find another use for it. Old clothing can be cut to make bags, belts, dishrags, headbands, or toys for your pets. (look on YouTube or Pinterest for inspiration)
