Good Morning!☀
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 1Peter 2:9
It is natural to want to fit in, to belong, to find a place where you are accepted for who you are. The problem is, sometimes we want to fit in places God never intended for us to fit into. The Bible makes it clear that God often calls particular people to particular tasks meant only for them. These tasks often were contrary to the conventional wisdom of the time, thus drawing ridicule and even persecution. For these individuals fitting in was not an option nor desirable.
Today's verse reminds us who we are in Christ and our purpose in the world. Our task is not to fit in, but by our separation and conduct draw others to Christ and the praise of his name. Our calling demands different standards and conduct than that of the world around us. Children of royalty must conduct themselves differently from children of commoners. Holy people must conduct themselves differently from unholy people. Our calling is to be reflected in our conduct.
If we must seek to fit in, let us make sure we seek to fit into God's plan for us!
