Happy 3 years to the best and most misunderstood character in the history of dramas. Thank you Somin and Younjung for bringing Cho Yeong (Naksu, Mudeok, Jin Buyeon) to life, a character so complex and still a source of great discussion. A true legend. ☆ ★ ✮ ★ ☆

ChoYeong’s Choice

In the end of the show, ChoYeong decided to let go of Naksu. She chose to not re-train to be an assassin because there was no need. She is still powerful but a different kind of powerful. I know people as disappointed with the lack of her fighting with her sword but people have to understand... her body isn’t the same and she let go of the past rage and anger. The Naksu we saw in the first episode is VERY different from Choyeong we see in S2EP10. She is now at peace by exchanging her anger and rage with, as cheesy as it may sound... love. She is living her best life with her husband by going off and fighting monsters, together. And I think seeing her finally happy is beautiful.

Everytime naksu opens her mouth she says something related to "mudeok" how is that dumbass jang uk still not getting it 😭😭 I blame everything on that stupid rock

EPISODE 18 COMMENTARY ᵗʸᵖᵉᵈ ᵃˢ ⁱ ʷᵃᵗᶜʰ

Finally we get to meet Buyeon. She seems like a stern, prideful woman who I get the sense that she has an ulterior motive and she will soon take full control of her body. Also the way Mudeok is noticing that she's conditioned to the bone to be a servant to others is funny as hell to me when she's got all her powers back to wipe the floor with these boys. Also the fact that she's contemplating switching to a better body lmao as the King for example is just so hilarious to me cause she's willing to steal mens' bodies left and right. Sis don't caree 😩🥴 Yeah she's still not morally inclined.

Also the theory of Buyeon and Choyeong being soul-swapped before that night we saw them is apparently incorrect now so I can just lay back and rest.

Yeah it's official, I don't like So-i. She has no redeeming qualities, she fooled me from the start. Wish there was one more dimension added to her character.

Look I ship Mudeok and Jang Wook BUT THE SCENE BETWEEN HER AND GO WON WHEN SHE SHOWS HER GRATITUDE TO HIM AND HIS USUAL RESPONSE IS SOMETHING SO SNOBBISH AND CONSIDERATE MY HEARTT. Lmao not a love confession when she's thinking of killing them all. My boy had tears in his eyes. I really don't think she's gonna go through with this... Obviously not, she's gotten warm blooded.

You know what, Seo Yul is actually quite precious. Poor Mudeok/ Naksu, she definitely won't go through with this because he's being all soft and shit. Girl you are so done 💀 Cutting ties my ass, miss me with all that.

Go Won trying to stop Mudeok from being in the same danger as Jang Wook and his eyes are so sad and she tells him to let her go I'm fucking doneeeee like what is thisssss. God I ship them.

Mudeok beating the shit out of that zombie so damn effortless. Need to see her in more action.

"Why did you hide it?" "Because I wanted you to die." "Then, why did you come for me?" "Because I thought you would die." Girl just say you love him already, you're both so fucked up omfg he kissed her after finding out she was gonna get him killed. Trying to get him killed and his response is always heart eyes is still an ongoing dynamic I see. Not complaining though, this is how we know them to be.

Thinking about Cho Yeong's journey in Alchemy of Souls is a bittersweet feeling.

I like fantasy stories in general because they give me this feeling that after a long journey, nothing is the same again. But the wounds along the way are there and at some point the characters will have to deal with them.

And I like to see that although part of the audience doesn't recognize it, Yeong is a character who has been dehumanized so many times in life, and that finding someone to be her safe haven, showing her weaknesses, selfishness and anger is what makes her more human.(she was made for us girls).

She didn't stop being strong just because she chose to follow another path, a path that wasn't imposed by perversity and trauma.

Now she is free to finally live as she wants, without manipulation. The sweet girl, the assassin, the master, the servant, the lady of a traditional family, the priestess are all part of the character's totality.

I love this character in all her entirety ♡
