Negotiation is not an act of battle; it’s a process of discovery. The goal is to uncover as much information as possible.
Chris Voss, Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It
In Descartes’ Error: Emotion, Reason, and the Human Brain, neuroscientist Antonio Damasio explained a groundbreaking discovery he made. Studying people who had damage in the part of the brain where emotions are generated, he found that they all had something peculiar in common: They couldn’t make decisions. They could describe what they should do in logical terms, but they found it impossible to make even the simplest choice. In other words, while we may use logic to reason ourselves toward a decision, the actual decision making is governed by emotion.

Swifties!
I've had an idea of someone else to contact to help in this fight against SB&SB/BMLG.
Chris Voss (@/VossNegotiation on Twitter). Is a hard core pro negotiator. He used to literally do FBI hostage negotiation, and now he is CEO of The Black Swan Group, and has written books to help others learn to negotiate "As If Your Life Depended On It." He loves to help others- and this would not only benefit on Taylor's end, but his end too, bringing a major influx of attention to him and his brand from the Swiftie army.
So here's what we do: Tweet him! Inundate him with requests to help Taylor with this case- hire a pro negotiator to deal with the SBs, BMLG, and the Carlyle Group. I've read his book and trust me- this guy can help. So!!!! It's worth a try, right? Everyone who has Twitter please tweet Chris/Mr. Voss @VossNegotiation !!!!!! Link him to the letter so he sees what's going on and ask him if he'd be interested in helping. @taylorswift @taylornation @tree-paine maybe contact him directly. This could be really helpful! He can help kick BMLG's ass in legal/business negotiations on Taylor's behalf. So GO, SWIFTIES, GO!!!

this is one of those brilliant books that you probably have to keep reading repeatedly to get it to really sink in and affect your approach to life. reading this is one thing, having the confidence to enact it is entirely another. but i do think what's so great about this book is that chris voss breaks down his negotiating process into ten steps, and even if you can just remember to implement a few at a time, you'll already be in a position to come out leagues ahead. and i also think this is not just all about negotiating - it's about having the confidence to communicate your point of view to another person, which is why i think never split the difference is an essential read for everyone.
