We love our dogs like they are one of our children, and they are indeed just that. However, we as humans must respect dogs for what they are, dogs. It's imperative we learn how to clearly communicate with them. We need to know how dogs perceive the world around them to adequately fulfill their requirements. By doing so we are offering the highest level of respect. There is a false pretense of thinking a leash or specific collar is going to make your dog walk by your side and begin to behave perfectly. The reality is without learning dog behavior and proper timing, all this equipment is useless and sometimes can make things worse. We, the evolved species must learn how to use the leash, collar or harness properly. That is after we have successfully accomplished the three most important actions, "Influence, Trust and Respect".
