Up tonight is The Last House on the Left!
For those of you who have been following Flap’s Film Files, you’ll know that a little more than a year ago I decided to take a break from writing to focus on making my own films at school. Like many college students, I changed my career path and realized that filmmaking is not something that I truly want to go into at this time. I had a ton of fun in high school making movies with my buddies, but I realized that making movies isn’t nearly as fun if you aren’t making them with friends.
I had fun in my Mass Communication classes at Rock Valley College, especially my Summer Motion Picture Production class, but the one thing I learned is that making movies can be fucking stressful. For me, I enjoyed running Flap’s Film Files and learning about new movies more than I did actually making films in college. I still plan to make shorts with my friends in our free time, but for now, I think journalism is what I want to devote myself to.
I liked being the person everyone could come to for questions about the newest movies, but since I stopped writing for Flap’s Film Files I found myself not nearly as knowledgeable as I once was. So I guess this is my way of saying I’m back, and there will be a few improvements. Instead of waiting until I have enough pictures from a certain movie to make a post or album, I will now post all of the new pictures from the week in one post during the weekend. Weekly movie news is also making a return and this too will be done each weekend. I’m considering starting a YouTube channel for weekly movie news since I think that would be an interesting alternative to what I usually do, but we will see what happens. Granted it may slip into the next week if I fall behind because of work and school, but I will do my best to keep everyone informed on the latest. That’s all for now, but stay tuned for new movie reviews, news, trailers, and pictures!

This week in movie news... Sony is planning on making a comedy out of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, and Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will be starring. Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch may be writing the screenplay for the upcoming live action Pokémon movie. Ever since his Broadway hit Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda has been getting a lot of work on feature length films, and the soundtrack for the new Little Mermaid is now on that list. While some may be concerned that An American Werewolf in London is getting a remake, it may relieve others that it will be directed by the original director's son, Max Landis. It seems like every other week another actor is added to the cast of Blade Runner 2, but this week one of the biggest actors yet has been added; Jared Leto. Michael Peña will be apart of Ant-Man and the Wasp. COPS will be receiving a movie adaptation and Ruben Fleischer will be directing. The Big Lebowski seems to be getting a spinoff as John Turturro has hinted that his character from The Big Lebowski, Jesus Quintana, will be starring in the upcoming movie Going Places. Stay tuned for more advancements on Flap's Film Files!

This year in San Diego Comic-Con movie news... Adam Wingard's film previously titled The Woods is actually a sequel to The Blair Witch Project. Kurt Russell does indeed have a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2; Ego The Living Planet. Brie Larson has been cast as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Max Landis will be writing a Pepe Le Pew movie for Warner Bros. Charlie Hunnam will not be apart of Pacific Rim 2. Kiersey Clemons will be portraying Iris West in DC's upcoming The Flash film. Doctor Strange has added Benjamin Bratt to its cast. In a recent interview at San Diego Comic-Con, James Cameron stated that, "basically the first of the sequels cloned itself and became two films, so now it's four films" meaning that Cameron basically wrote too much and that is the reason why we are getting four Avatar sequels. The last movie in the Divergent Series will be made as a TV movie. In other movie news... Legendary has gotten the rights to make a live action Pokémon movie, and with all of the success of Pokémon Go, I would assume that movie will be coming our way relatively quickly. The next Shrek sequel will be hitting the big screen in 2019. Filming has ceased on Star Wars Episode VIII, so now its up to the editors to finish it up. Lennie James, Morgan from The Walking Dead, has been cast in Blade Runner 2. The short film titled Lights Out that received a feature film this year will be getting a sequel. Michael Keaton recently shared his thoughts on Beetlejuice 2 saying things such as, "It's possible that ship has sailed" and "There are certain movies that are like Indian burial grounds. You never ride over them." That's all for this week! Check back next week for more movie news!
