The Holy Spirit, Your Counselor

🍽️📖📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈🛐🙏

Today, let's start with a couple of verses:

"Oil and perfume make the heart glad; So a man’s counsel is sweet to his friend" (Proverbs 27:9).

"For by wise guidance you will wage war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory" (Proverbs 24:6).

One more?

"Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory" (Proverbs 11:14).

Need I say more? The conclusion is that you can't live your life without counsel.

Counsel provides direction, guidance and clarity. You are less likely to fall into a ditch when you have counsel.

Guess what? The Holy Spirit is the best counselor.

He can guide you into all truth.

He can remind you of what you need to do.

He can show you what course to take for the future.

Your best bet is to follow him.

He is the best counselor that ever lived and will ever live.

David Brainerd

Knights of the Kingdom Series

In the 29 years of his life, David Brainerd (April 20, 1718 - October 9, 1747) dedicated his life to spreading the gospel of Christ. He was an American Missionary who though beset with a myriad of seemingly insurmountable problems pursued God relentlessly.

Orphaned at age 14, he inherited a farm and went to live with his sister. He later on prepared to enter Yale as he didn't like his experience with farming. His admission to Yale was short-lived as he took ill and had to be sent home. He returned to school at a time when there was a growing tension between school authorities and missionaries who came to preach to students.

The authorities complained that the students were being made too much of spiritual enthusiast. David could not keep mute about this issue and passed comments that got him expelled from Yale. His dream of becoming a minister was shattered as a recent law passed demanded that all appointed ministers should have attended Yale, Harvard or an European University. He sought the face of God and hope was rekindled as he was licensed to preach by a group of evangelicals called New Lights.

He served in a church in Long Island and preached in New Jersey and its environs. Through many difficulties especially with his health, he refused several calls of leaving the missions field to become a church minister but he was resolute in the path he had chosen in becoming a missionary.

In his diary, he wrote,

"Could have no freedom in the thought of any other circumstances or business in life: all my desire was the conversion of the heathen and all my hope was in God: God does not suffer me to please or comfort myself with the hopes of seeing friends, returning to my dear acquaintances and enjoying worldly comforts."

His passion for souls was unwavering. His ministry was most fruitful among the Delaware Indians. He died in 1747.

As it is in Heaven

🛐🕯️ 🍽️📖⛪️ 🍯🛐

Have you ever imagined heaven?

Think about the beauty, the glory, the joy, the order....

Neither our imagination nor our words can do justice to heaven.

But in Jesus's prayer template for the disciples, He introduced a profound thought.

"...your will be done as it is in Heaven" (Matthew 6:10).

God's will is perfectly done in heaven and that's why it is breathtaking.

God wants His will done on earth too.

And we are the vessels for enforcing His will on earth.

And the more you fulfill purpose, the more you bring heaven to earth.

And guess what, as you fulfill purpose you also bring the practical experience of heaven into your own life.

For example, God's will for your home is for it to be a replica of heaven.

It should be full of love, peace, joy, grace and glory.

If you do marriage with God's word, you'll notice that it is indeed "heaven on earth."

In which area of you life do you want to bring "heaven to earth?"

Ask the precious Holy Spirit to help you.

How to Enjoy Peace

🛐🕯️ 🍽️📖⛪️ 🍯🛐

Peace is the birthright of every child of God.

If you're born again, you should enjoy peace everyday.

Peace in you mind, your heart, your life... just name it.

Jesus gave us peace as our inheritance.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, nor be afraid" (John 14:27).

It is His peace, not ours. In other words, you have the same peace Jesus had.

But how do you enjoy the peace?

Jesus has an answer.

_"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33)._

The more you immerse yourself in God's word, the more peace you enjoy.

Have you read the Word today? Why not add some peace to your life?

Be Careful What You Hear

🛐🕯️ 🍽️📖⛪️ 🍯🛐

What you hear will decide how your life will turn out.

So Jesus tells us to be careful what we hear.

"And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing.

The measure [a][of thought and study] you give [to [b]the truth you hear] will be the measure [c][of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear" (Mark 4:24-26).

Remember, Jesus was preaching the word of God to them, but He still told them to be careful what they hear.

This means that you can be listening to a sermon and get the wrong message.

For example, let's say you're being rebuked or corrected concerning a mistake you made.

If you're not careful, you could see it as condemnation and it can breed guilt.

You can listen to a sermon and end up comparing your life with the preacher or people used as examples. At the end, you'll end up feeling worthless and insecure.

So always learn to be careful what you hear.

Hear what God is saying.

And the more you read the scriptures, the more your mind is tuned to hearing the right thing.

Help Someone Know the Holy Spirit

🛐🕯️ 🍽️📖⛪️ 🍯🛐

If you're ever going to help someone eternally, introduce that person to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said profound things about the Spirit.

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever" (John 14:16).

"These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you" (John 14:25-26).

The Holy Spirit is the helper of all ages. He is the one that can walk with someone and teach him/her about everything.

The Holy Spirit provides instructions.

The Holy Spirit provides guidance.

The Holy Spirit provides power.

The Holy Spirit provides covering.

The more you walk with the Holy Spirit the more spiritual you are.

The Holy Spirit is the key to success in any area of your life.

Today, tell someone about the Holy Spirit. Encourage someone to read about the Holy Spirit and seek Him.

See Yourself As God Sees You

🍽️📖📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈🛐🙏

How does God see you? A failure? Certainly not. A wimp? Not even close. A weakling? Not in the ballpark.

God doesn't see as men see. God looks beyond our seeming failures, issues, and challenges. Guess what?

Look at what God told Samuel:

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

So how does God see us? Brace yourself for this life-changing answer: He sees us as He sees Christ! How profound!

When God sees Jesus, He sees you. And when He sees you, He sees Jesus. That's what Christ accomplished for us on the cross.

Look at what the Bible says about you:

"And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God" (Galatians 4:6-7).

Oh, glory! God sees you as His child and His heir. That's more than enough to help you go through today with confidence.

Don't pay attention to what the devil whispers to you. Nope! Always remember how God sees you.

Live By Faith

🍽️📖📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈🛐🙏

A car runs by an engine. A bird flies by its wings. Your life works only by faith.

Faith is not an option; it's the only way to live. Some people think that they only need faith when they have a challenge before them. But nothing could be further from the truth. You need faith everyday of your life.

The Apostle Paul told us that:

"For we live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7).

As believers in Christ, we don't live by the things we see. The circumstances you see are all fleeting. The only thing that's real and true is God's word. And faith is your response to God's word.

Faith is leaning on God's word always. Faith is making God's word the driving force of your life. Faith is knowing that what God said is true, and walking in that reality.

Only things gotten by faith last. Anything gotten by the flesh fades and deteriorates.

Your intelligence should come by faith. Your career progress should come by faith. Your finances should increase by faith. Decide that faith will be your daily currency!
