And when I say with my entire SOUL that the mirror visitor has the best enemies to lovers plot, I mean it. No one NOONE does it like these books. FINALLY the fmc hates the mmc, his attitude, his choices/actions, and FINALLY his looks(at first, at least). None of this “oh I hate him so much, he’s so annoying and such a bad person. I especially hate his rock hard abs and dark eyes…” NO SHUT UP. Ophelia hated Thorn with everything she had and could not wrap her head around him as a person and genuinely had no interest in him until halfway through the second book, and even then she saw him rather platonically. Finally a fmc that has thought and intention behind her actions, and in the second book she was genuinely more concerned for his wellbeing just as a person. I don’t think it occurred to her that she could love him as more than a person she would have to live with, until she realized “actually he’s kinda okay, he makes me feel funny and I kinda don’t mind standing next to him now”. And FINALLY a mmc that isn’t conventionally attractive. Like I don’t care if you make all the ladies open their legs, how would you handle the beginning of a revolution and the end of the world. Hell, how would you handle not being an asshole to everyone just because your looks permit you to. It’s hard to find in books nowadays an mmc that is not just sarcastic and dark just bc idk his childhood dog died and his mother looked at him funny so now it’s everyone’s problem.

Ophelia is the best character ever not only is she a loser girl, she is also a wildcard, an underestimated powerhouse, a thorn in your plans (hahah), she goes everywhere damp and sniffling and wishing the floor would eat her up, but she’s also out here charming household objects into betraying you, convincing the king of dalliances into being emotionally vulnerable, drinking other people’s tea, owning a cat scarf, enthralling a centuries old spirit with fairytales, accidentally making attempts on people’s lives, never misses a chance to commit espionage, being a sneak, having zero personal regard, having an intact sense of self-preservation, having a broken sense of self-preservation, not being an adrenaline junky, taking all the risks. Being a doormat, never doing what others want her to do. Lowkey lives on anxiety, reports on whether this is conducive to a healthier lifestyle or detrimental are inconclusive, but yes. She is an enigma
