Thorn, too woke for Russia, meant to live in Canada
On a side note, he is the spiritual son of Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov you heard it here first
Thorn, too woke for Russia, meant to live in Canada
the problem with ado fans is that they keep yapping about how perfect her vocal range is, how peak each and every one of her songs is, how inspirational her backstory is, how cool and down-to-earth and iconic she is and you can't even argue with us because we're right 😇
SPOILERS AHEAD (KINDA)
Okay so Christelle Dabos is my favorite writer and one of the main thing she's good at is writing characters. Sure, there might be some narrative bits that don't hold up, or timelines that aren't clear, but her characters outshine all of that. They're compelling, you can't help but get attached to all of them. And not just because they're nuanced/morally grey. That's the bare minimum. You know how she does it ?
She takes clichés and stereotypes and plays with them. She goes beyond the archetype. Not in a "this character who seems evil turns out to be the good guy" kinda way. She's not here to refute the character traits and make a plot twist out of them. "This character seems to be evil, he's also a good guy, also does that erase his personality and all his actions beforehand ? Nope, he's still a bastard". The shy and weird girl is able to be stubborn and strong, she still remains shy and weird. The evil step-mother (or aunt, here) is actually a victim of patriarchy but hey, she's still over the top and likes to live in luxury at the end of the story. The most autistic and asocial guy you'll ever see can be a hero, he does not have to change to conform to the socially acceptable view of a hero.
Because in real life sometimes, people can be living clichés. And we don't change that easily, even after an heroic journey. Because that's still who we are.
And you know who else does this ?
Toby Fox.
Oh boy you've only read the first part of this post brace yourself.
It's not a coincidence he's my second favorite storyteller. He does the exact same thing.
And I could write a whole essay about how they both use religious figures and symbols to talk about creation. How they both have their main antagonist somehow being compared to the God of this world. How the takeaway is that sometimes creators, authors, artists, fall and lose themselves (in)to their own creation. How the main characters want to escape predetermined fate because they hate the idea that their future has been decided in advance, that they don't have free will. How even if we don't know the end of Deltarune yet, a well accepted theory, foreshadowing and subtext is that Kris will inevitably lose their hand or at least part of their mobility in their fingers, and hey, doesn't that remind you of something.
I could do that, or I could leave you with :
Never really bought the "Archibald is bisexual" headcanon, don't get me wrong, it's a fun hc, but my man has clearly stated he's not into men, and I feel like it would be OOC for him.
HIM BEING TRANSFEM HOWEVER—
Spoilers for book 3 & 4 of the Mirror Visitor but I didn't grasp the "Dilleux/Dieu" reveal at the end of book 3 because for some reason my dumb ass forgot that the double L after an I made the "yeu" sound and kept pronouncing it as "Dis-le". I only realised it while reading the book 4 flashback where one character mispronounced her name straight up as "God" and had the biggest epiphany moment.
Mind you book 3 and book 4 were released 2 years apart. For TWO WHOLE YEARS I didn't understand why Ophelia stated it was obvious that Eulalia was God.
la passé miroir obsession is so bad I got back into reading fanfic
I've only had Jesus for one day but if anything happens to him- NOOOO
oh nvm he's back
I gotta get caught up with the Yakuza series before Stranger Than Heaven comes out
"If the only reason you engage with Ralsei's character is because you theorize about which Light World object he is and you constantly replace his role as a Delta Warrior and as Susie and Kris' friend with Noelle, you are falling for Ralsei's mentality that he is not a real person and you shouldn't care about him, thus completely failing to understand his character," I say into the mic.
The crowd boos. I begin to walk off in shame, when a voice speaks up.
"She's right!"
I turn around.
It's Susie Deltarune.
ADO??! AND SNOOP DOGG???? AND OFFICIALL HIGE DANDISM????
The song is fantastic!!
I just need everyone who has played The Stanley Parable to go watch this music video by Yorushika/n-buna that I just discovered because OMG the vibes are strong with this one.
The details ? The characters ?
All I'm saying is that this mv could have a fandom on its own
(The song name is "Abuku")
