Going on a rant about some of the basic and classical Goth albums of the 80s ive been listening to. Back when i was super active in thw goth scene(00s as any good millennial) there were so many albums i missed or couldnt find. But of course some of the stuff i heard on the dance floor in that dark crowded basement(city club!). And one, kmfdm, snake river conspiracy, cruxshadows, wolfsheim, dead can dance and countless others that i never found out the names to(i know these cover many styles of goff). But the classics are classics for a reason and i have come back around to listen to the full albums and find artist i couldnt find outside of limewire. But man its been such a joy and pleasure to hear some of personal favorites.
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Favorite songs, 92°, Sweetest Chill, Cites in Dust, Parties Fall.
Cities in Dust was my conversion day. The melodies and danceable haunt moved something within that has just never been the same. And the video has such texture.
Parties fall is a song i cry to when loneliness and need to feel understood. Its a truly encouraging track of melancholy and comfort.
92° is the most poetic of tracks in my experience. The visceral and visual adventure into madness. And the intensity of the chorus just makes me want to swirl around like one of the dancers in carnival of souls.
FIRST AND LAST AND ALWAYS
Favorite tracks Marian, No Time to Cry, First and Last and Always.
Who doesnt love some SOM. If not you can log off right now..
But seriously my second favorite of the *im not goth* but oh so goth bands. I get it, artists dont like to be pinned down by labels. As an artist myself i feel that.
Im not as familiar with them as siouxsie but i love the tracks. I dont wear black eyeliner but i feel like i do listening to this band.
I dont know what the songs are about honestly but i have it in my queue to learn more about the ones clad in black and wondrous morose. These were always some of my dance floor favorites. This Corrosion chorus has haunted me for over 2 decades! And i couldn't be more greatful. I did watch trash theory retrospective on them and learned alot. Check that out on youtube if you haven't.
All do more soon. Its late
Cocteau twins has rocked my world recently, also The Last Dance.
Years out from my brain injury and i continue to learn and remember so many things that bring me some real joy. I love art and artist. It really makes the world a better place.
