there's too much tendency to attribute to god the evils that man does of his own free will.

aesthetic:
words barely stilted by an accent. lips quirked up into a smile. politically-minded. seeing beyond now, seeing the future. a crumpled pack of cigarettes at the bottom of a bag. a tin of peppermints. secrets behind closed doors. people call you cold -- being too driven to care. a watch ticking on your wrist. the smell of eucalyptus. feet tapping incessantly. twirling pens through fingers. reading a dog-eared book. raising champagne in a toast.
connections:
alcott
you’ve never had friends, not really. people are always wary of you, maybe even a little scared. they’d probably be surprised to know that, in that cold heart of yours, their dismissal causes you to ache. you first met alcott in the spring of your first year. they didn’t notice your coldness, or maybe they just didn’t notice. they were quick with a joke and that was that. they’re your closest friend, dare you say it – your best friend. they know you like no one else.
austen
confidence is something that comes easy to you. your chin is raised high, there’s a smile on your lips. it’s easy to be sure of yourself when you know who you are and you’re happy with that. you don’t like austen, and maybe it’s because you’re so alike. you’re both sure and self-aware. they talk when no one wants to hear them, when their opinion isn’t needed. maybe one day they’ll learn their place – wherever it is, you hope it’s nowhere near you.
bronte
you were surprised to find out that bronte had a reputation as a heartbreaker. they didn’t seem the type, but shockingly, they were. you had an eye for them from the moment you met, but it was never meant to be anything more. except then it was. there was a party and you both had a little too much to drink, and the next thing you knew was that you were kissing them. but it wasn’t just then. it happened again in a hallway, then in a classroom. you’ve been avoiding them lately, though. you want something serious, and you know that isn’t them.
