The right hand of Christ Pantocrator on the apse of the 12th century Cattedrale di Monreale in Monreale near Palermo, Italy, gives a Greek blessing with the thumb touching the ring and little fingers while the index and middle fingers point upwards.

The featured one consists of the icons of Christ Pantocrator, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Mother of God of Kazan, and Selected Saints. Painted by an anonymous Russian icon painter in the early 16th century, this icon of Christ Pantocrator depicts the Messiah with heavily shadowed eyes and a narrow straight nose. The serious and stern expression of Jesus Christ makes Him look rather natural in the role of the Almighty and Redeemer. The icon was painted in Novgorod, Russia. In 1931, it was bequeathed to Walters Art Museum, an outstanding public art museum located in Mount Vernon-Belvedere in Baltimore, Maryland.
