8. Chromatistes! The Magma likes pairing him with circles so I hopped on board; I think it'd be funny if that one circle like fell in love with him after quitting politics to become an artist

Chromatistes (if that even was his real name) and Pantocyclus lived several thousands years before the events of Flatland take place.

Which is why I was so irritated to realize that the 2007 Flatland film had decided to make all of it happen at the same time. It's taking the propaganda that the circles have created though literal thousands of years to suit their purposes, and made it all direct irrefutable fact.

That's not how this works. That makes you lose so much of the meaning of the series and the events that we are told took place between them.
