Chronicles of Light vol 2 Y'shtola Story Info:
Y'shtola's story, "Private Reflections" finally gives us some insight into her family.
-
The 12 Daughters of Gleaner Y'rhul Nunh, in birth order:
1 Adebh - Forum Member
2 Sumbla - Labyrinthos Engineer
3 Ranmaia - Navigator (sailor), Talhdi and Raigoh's full sister
4 Shtola - Sorceress, Scion of the Seventh Dawn
5 Talhdi - Painter, Ranmaia and Raigoh's full sister
6 Mallibo (twin) - Scientist Archaeologist, Sons of St Coinach, Shtola's full sister
7 Mhitra (twin) - Arcane Archaeologist, Sons of St Coinach, Shtola's full sister according to this, contradicting previous lore (Summoner trainer)
8 Raigoh - Musician, Ranmaia and Talhdi's full sister
9 Sohnjin - Agora armorshop proprietor, her mother was a sister of Shtola's mother making them "sister and cousin both" (image below)
10 Nazqha - Gleaner and Rhul's apprentice
11 Jhimei - Arcanist Adventurer (Limsan trained)
12 Napa - Student at the Studium, enjoys the Far Eastern hobby of suiseki (actual Japanese art/hobby)
Not long after the events of Endwalker, Y'rhul passed suddenly of contagion while working in Nagxia, Y'nazqha forced to have him cremated there due to the nature of his death, and his ashes spread in the Ruby Sea so he might continue traveling the world via the ocean currents.
His specialty was in literature, and at his direction, Y'nazqha brings her sisters rare books their father had found, pertinent to each woman's interests and work, despite the family being so very scattered physically due to Y'rhul's occupation and the emotional distance between most of them.
We don't get any of the mothers' names in this one, as it's more about the various sisters and how well their oft-distant father knew them.
His gift to Y'shtola alone shows how much he thought of his children, and reaffirms her promise made in Shadowbringers and which she has pursued since.
-
Y'rhul did apparently have children with two sisters, given the comment about Y'sohnjin. The twins' difficult births apparently caused frailty in Y'shtola's mother (another reason she was placed with Matoya at age seven). It's not unheard of in reality for men to wed their late wives' sisters, and even if Shtola's mother did live, these are Seekers we're talking about. They don't exactly do monogamy.
-
It looks like we'll get to meet another sister on Phaenna in a quest, checking the gamesconsole wiki for their names.
The armor vendor in Sharlayan's Agora:
No wonder we didn't catch the family resemblance. Shtola does say this sister's "an unusual character even among this unusual company." Even in the family meeting, she wears her full plate.
Vyrsiljos
Name: Vrysiljos Borealcrest
Species: Wyrm
Age: 270 years (Adult)
Gender: Demigirl (She/They)
Main Element: Light
Sub-Elements: Space, Ice, Wind
Affiliation/Alignment: Lumeria/Lawful-Neutral Good
Faction: Lumerian Military
Rank: Starship Captain (CO)
Branch: Lumerian Galaxa Corps
Voice Claim: Sylvia Hocks (Sigrid - Twilight of the Gods)
As stone faced, mighty, and stoic as they come Vry is the ideal of every Lumerian soldier. She’s strong willed, assured of her power, and utterly confident in all of her abilities. She isn’t much for small talk and only speaks when it’s needed or when something important must be discussed; preferring to let her actions talk instead. Vry is very dress-right-dress and has a zero tolerance policy for horseplay, breaking or even bending codes of conduct. It’s well known that they run an immaculately tight ship and their orders are followed to a “T”. Because of this Vry has made quite the intimidating image for herself, with other Galaxa corp recruits constantly whispering their fears of getting assigned to her warship.
It doesn’t help that her silent and cold demeanor result in an imposing figure that seems unapproachable. Whenever their visage appears it always commands the highest respect. However, while many think maybe Vry is like other generals and is secretly soft on the inside, this isn’t quite true. They are still relatively callous and frigid even on the inside, but this is the result of all they’ve seen and suffered through. Ultimately Vry’s strict commands come from a place of care for those under her; as she knows what happens when regulations aren’t followed to. Only through strict adherence to commands and regulations can victory be obtained and casualties minimized.
Chronicles of Light II
I've been waiting for this since it was announced! Mostly for the Feo Ul and Exarch bonus story, but it's also got extra stories about Krile, Y'shtola's family, and Godbert's courtship of Julyan! A great addition to my ffxiv book collection.
very excited to read all the side stories again too!
So I decided to post a little thing in here, since I thought some of y'all might find this interesting...
Not sure if I am making the right decision by putting this up without permission of the one who shared it with me, but... It's not like I can or want to commune with them again, so I thought, why keep it among my stuff when I can have others use it too?
This is an excerpt from one of the less common Hydaelyn-related story books (not EEs, it's name is also the archive password), I think a lot of people who are into lore will find this interesting. I am sorry I don't have more, but as I mentioned, the original source is not mine. When I get the financial means to get hands on my own copies, if I am still here by this time, I will get more. But for now, I am offering what I have.
My copy of the Chronicles of Light came in, and the illustrations do not disappoint! Naturally this one is my favorite :3
Here's a couple more faves
