She knows Gamzee is nearby from hearing a somewhat distant honk, then we get this panel, and.... those shades of purple and pink with that quick gradient shift from Gamzee's honks seem.... significantly familiar.... 👀

and apart from the conversation with Meulin, the second time we see Kurloz do this, he's talking to the reader and honks first, and then his next honk has his chucklevoodoo activated- naturally, the reader is unable to make him interact with Meenah from this, implying he's the one actually in control despite the reader's curiosity and attempts

(Edit: please don't use my gifs for your kinks/sexlife, Tumblr directly notifies me, I will block you on the spot) this is what we get on the topic, implying a "possibility" of that being the case, but to me at least, it seems blatantly canon (with the Terezi/Vriska manipulation)- what ALSO falls into this being canon is Hussie states he's pretty strict with the rules he sets up despite most of the comic being created on the fly, the HONK gradient shift could be one of these rules with Kurloz's being more obvious through ghost eyes, compared to the readers relying on stylized visuals or "word of god" (who trolls regularly) for Gamzee

Forgot to add additional speculation bits focusing on Kurloz, not much, but considering his taciturn and all Makaras becoming reserved (assumed to be after a certain age, considering Gamzee and Kurloz were both shown or mentioned to be talkative early in their sessions) compared to the others it's not surprising:

most people have shown all known Kurloz mentions and put different/in-depth speculation out in further detail, so I'm not doing much- just showing some parts that correlate with the Terezi crime scene mention of Gamzee- where Gamzee is completely out of her suspicion WHILE out of view (gets caught/realized when John grabs her attention in retcon), but Kurloz is out in the open, so his group is warry of him, but shrug off the suspicion because they have the same "it's obviously not him, he's harmless" mindset invoked onto them with his chucklevoodoo

the line Vriska says is probably less-known because of it being completely separate from the initial dancestor flash (edit: changed the quality of Aranea's dialogue)

It's not terribly well understood what determines particular elements of an individual's chucklevoodoo. There might be a genetic component but there's some individual variation too that's probably environmental, or related to temperament. Like for instance, Gamzee and the Grand Highblood have very similar chucklevoodoos, but... it's hard to explain. Gamzee's are less immediate, I guess? Like not that they're less terrifying but his are more "something bad will inevitably happen" and the Highblood's are more "something bad is actively targeting you right now."

They tend to take a little while to settle when you're a kid but once you're five or six usually they don't change much after that. Sometimes serious trauma can shake them up a little, though? Stuff that influences how you experience fear, yourself.
