PLEASE DO NOT GIVE CHURB REASON TO STAB ME!
maybe its because i hadnt been on cherp in a few months but does anyone else feel like cherp is so.... cold lately? maybe thats the wrong word but like. idk. i dont even care about not being able to move off-site (i did it, like, once on cherubplay) but the emphasis on there being absolutely no sort of ooc chatter not related to roleplay, not even to tell your partners "ill be gone for xyz reasons" seems like a strangely clinical way of going about what is otherwise supposed to be a fun hobby
/shrug. i doubt theyre reversing these decisions so maybe this is just a sign that i need to find a new rp website
It... Does. I honestly get nervous I’m gonna get banned because I get chatty OoC. Because like. RP to me is a collab effort, and man, sometimes I just wanna get to know the other person. Helps me cater things to them more, and honestly? It’s how I’ve always made friends so...
while cherp is dead shoutout to my one rp partner who writes like a train is boutta run them over but has the loveliest ooc vibes and is actually willing to stick with me on writing out plot thats unrelated to fucking. Sometimes i feel like im about to have an aneurysm trying to get through the clusterfuck of run-on sentences but i can follow whats happening and thats enough, still appreciate u n ur wonderful character bless u both
You're a good person Anon and I hope you and your partner have a wonderful RP.
similar to a previous anon, one thing that drives me insane is when people feel like they need to respond to every single line of dialogue? so then the conversation feels weird and disjointed since, you know, people dont talk like that. as an exaggerated example, itll be like
"Nice shirt, I have one just like it." Character A says. "Anyway, we need to focus on our plan for Important Event Here."
"Oh thanks, I got it for my birthday. And, I agree, we need to do this this and that, right?" responds Character B.
"Damn, I must have missed it, happy belated birthday. We also have to do this other thing too for our Important Event Plan."
and then it continues as if the characters are having two different conversations at once. does that make any sense?? ironically its hard to put into words until you see it in action but like.... please just focus on the important stuff. especially when we're doing something plot heavy. not every single line needs to be addressed and thats ok
Nah, I understand this fully. I fall into this trap sometimes :c :c
Like my brain goes ‘Oh if you don’t answer maybe they’ll think you’re not paying attention!’ It’s something I still am trying to train myself out of doing. But I agree, it can make shit very complicated in a stupid way :/
This ask was sent in awhile ago, but when I roleplay as a character's non-canon internet persona, I tend to use a different username from their pesterchum handle because like... pesterchum handles don't really lend themselves to other site usernames, ya know? Like pesterchum is set up in canon to be two split words to form their TT/TG/GT/etc. distinguishers, like timaeus testified or golgothas terror, a format which, imo, probably wouldn't be utilized on other sites where it's not necessary. I just think a character probably wouldn't use a rigid, rule-based username structure on a site like Instagram, where you can name yourself distride or 4N4LL34K4AGE42069, especially if they're an influencer establishing a parasocial brand based off their real life and, by extension, their irl name. TLDR: pesterchum have rule and I don't think character would follow rule if its not necessary. I hope what I said makes sense BTW like (blushing emoji).
It does make sense! Gods know I don’t use the same UN everywhere.
GOD it drives me insane ppl who get defensive when we complain about a lack of f/f content in fandoms are always like "waaah why are u forcing people to write about/be attracted women!!" like ??? no one is saying that. literally no one. i couldnt give less of a shit if youre not attracted to women. its not about yall. but fandoms have a lot more wlw and bi/straight men than you think, and these are the people that id assume would have a lot more interest in f/f shipping not... yknow... gay men and straight women
on a similar and more cherp-specific vein, it drives me insanely that a lot of the f/f or m/f content you CAN find on cherp is wildly hypersexual, and/or very misogynistic. not that theres anything inherently wrong with smut but it reallyyy seems like most of the userbase who even bothers to write or roleplay with female characters only sees them as (often completely flanderized) sex objects. m/m shippers complain a lot about there being too much or not enough of a certain m/m ship they like, but at least yall have prompts where your favorite characters are still treated like people :/
Lords above I know that the treatment of female chars, esp. lesbian ones, on Cherp is horrendous. Just. LHGDKHFGKLDFG. There’s a reason I’ve stepped away from playing female characters, ngl.
But yea. Like. F/F RPers are allows to complain about there not being enough F/F content. They’re not saying you have to make some. Same with M/F RPers. Unless someone specifically comes up to you and starts saying that shit, no, no one’s targeting you.
ever have a rp where you love the plot and characters, but the other person's writing style is just... lackluster? they are trying, you can tell. but the formatting is hard to read, with dialogue rarely placed on a new line. it's chock full of repeated cliches like "he raised an eyebrow." it uses filter words, "seemed," "thought," and "saw" everywhere. it has purple unicorn syndrome, ie "the younger male." i'm not perfect myself, but... i try to avoid repetition as best i can, idk.
Guilty of using filler words and repeated clichés lol. But I know what you mean. Usually? I don’t mind too much. Like. I can handle it. Because I know sometimes my brain shits out on me for months at a time and writing is difficult.
Petty complaint time. People, stick with imperial measurements when writing sex scenes. There's no way to make metric sexy.
This is the FUNNIEST ask I’ve ever gotten and I’m so sorry. I love it.
