Chus Martinez on fear, authoritarianism, libertarianism, Trevor Paglen, Federico Manuel Peralta Ramos, and italo disco — and friendship? — in the new issue of Mousse. A ravishing, weird essay.
You are always hiding curves. I imagine these things you use—tight, opaque, uniform in texture, in colour. Imagine it: if you would wear something a little bit less trustworthy as a material, something that would not hold your body in the way you are used to, you will then have no choice but to sense yourself. It is just a banal but effective exercise in self-eroticization.
Chus Martinez
I became an experience to myself.
