Happy one year anniversary of Ciara Cassidy played by the stunning Belinda Stewart-Wilson!
My thoughts on tonight’s Casualty episode.
..........
Ciara
I am so happy with the way Ciaras story has ended. That final scene was so sad but so necessary and important. I’ve been saying this for so long but tonight has finally proved that Ciaras unhealthy reliance on men was NOT being portrayed in a positive way. THAT WAS NOT THE STORY THAT THE SHOW WAS TELLING! It was so obvious it was always going to lead to this.
So many other characters and even some viewers have seen Ciara like a child or a victim and totally incapable of making her own decisions and I love that she’s proven what most of us have known all along, that even though she has been a mess and relied too much on men, shes actually strong and smart and can stand up for herself. She acknowledged she has been unhealthy in her relationships with men and relied on them to make decisions for her. She realised what she needs and doesn’t need right now and showed that she can make her own decisions.
Despite his overbearing pushiness last week, Dylan proved tonight that he respects Ciara and her decisions. He showed that even though he’s wanted a relationship, his main priority has always just been for Ciara to be safe. She was safe so he could let her go without arguing or trying to stop her.
I love that she acknowledged there has been so much drama in their relationship, and both she and Dylan have been in such bad places, that they’ve never had a chance to step back, develop their relationship in a healthy way and actually look at their feelings. I liked that she knows she’ll always want to be a part of his life even if it’s not in a romantic way (although I do ship them in a romantic way and want them to be together like that eventually). She acknowledged that they have a genuine love and connection, even if she’s not sure what that is yet.
I said this last week but even though a relationship is not the right thing for either of them right now, particularly Ciara and so far it’s been so unhealthy and a literal car crash. I do hope she returns when they’re both in a better place and they get together and actually try to have a healthy relationship. whenever Will leaves at least!
Other little thoughts throughout the episode
........
I love the fact that Dylan said go to the boat and didn’t give her an address and she knew straight away where it was. It’s officially canon she’s been to the boat before!! 😊
I love that Dylan finally just let all his hatred for Joel out and has stopped trying to hide it or pretend. The look he gave Joel as he yelled in pain when he fixed his leg gave me life 😂 and when he said “whatever I don’t care” to Iain I HOWLED
That kiss after the car crash is officially my favourite. That’s the first time he’s initiated a kiss and in front of everyone as well!
They remembered Bacchus and she left him with Dylan and said she was leaving a piece of her heart with him, oh my heart 💔
HAHAHAHA! Dylan having a copy of fifty shades of grey was so funny but OOC!!!! My headcanon is that Zoe or Louise gave it him as a joke Christmas present
Jade is officially in my bad books. She almost causes her coworker to die, doesn’t own up to it and then jokes about it like she has no remorse. Wtf who does that?
Marty however is a king and I’m adoring him so far.
Iain is breaking my heart and I’m really enjoying (if that’s the right word) this storyline. So far it’s been quite well written and I hope they continue with it because it’s an important story and they are doing it justice.
Dylan and David’s bromance gives me life.
I genuinely thought Alicia was going to go off at Ethan for buying those toys so it was sweet that she was thankful. I know people don’t like them but they are cute I have to admit.
Whatever you say about the show etc. You can not deny Will Beck and Belinda Stewart Wilson are astounding actors, have an amazing chemistry and they have knocked this storyline out of the park. I for one am going to miss her.
Bravo 👏
dylan and ciara's relationship is so gross and unhealthy, why won't he leave her alone
Casualty S33 Episode 5
Also known as: drink and drugs are bad for you, kids.
To be honest, I’m not sure there’s much else to say about this ep. Ciara has been sneaking around doing something that she won’t confess to - I guess perhaps it has something to do with the secret husband who was revealed at the end of the ep. Poor Dylan, he didn’t look happy.
Not especially happy with Dylan’s incredibly blinkered view when it comes to Ciara (hopefully formerly blinkered now, but not convinced...), the things he said to David were particularly unfounded. So that’s two strikes in a couple of weeks (the first being his outburst at Sam’s funeral). I’m guessing things are going to get worse for him before they get better - all this seems to be pointing that way.
Dylan’s patient was particularly unsympathetic. What makes one person shoulder a tragedy and wade through it, and another wallow in self pity, treating all those around them badly? There is an irony in that both types need help and support, but the former is so much more likely to get it, making the latter exist in self fulfilling prophetic misery.
Iain’s treatment of Ruby continues to irk me too. Just so unnecessary. His attempts to help Mia’s partner continue for at least another week, but I find myself pretty uninvested in the storyline - or in fact, anything to do with Iain at the moment.
Ethan and Alicia. I suppose at least she’s not rushed forward into something that would be destructive. I can’t let go of everything she has done to him in the past, with her whistleblowing website, her relationship with Cal etc, so I’m never going to be exactly behind that pairing, but Ethan is such a sweet puppy dog with everything he is doing to try and look after her, that I find myself kind of wanting something to happen just to make him happy! Weird.
Ah well, onward and upward.
Chapters 1, 2 and 3 of my fanfiction story is up on Wattpad. Its a Dylan and Ciara based story. 18+ if you must. Read at your own discretion.
