When i first arrived in Cincinnati, the first building that made an impression on me was the former Cincinnati Times-Star Building, an imposing 16-story Art Deco edifice located at 800 Broadway Street downtown. Designed by the city's most prolific firm, Samuel Hannaford & Sons, it was built in 1933 as the then-new headquarters of the newspaper, which was owned by the Taft family from 1880 to 1958. The exterior is made of Bedford limestone and features carvings of allegorical representations of Truth, Patriotism, Progress & Speed at the crown of the building. There are also carvings of several men that played a vital role in the history of printing: Gutenberg, Byzantinus, Manutius, Caxton & Franklin. The ornately gilded entrance is another highlight. For some reason, I decided not to go inside. I seriously regret that decision. Definitely next time, though. In '58, the Times-Star, along with its assets, was merged with its main competitor, The Cincinnati Post, owned by the E. W. Scripps Company. The Post remained in the building until 1979. In the early 1980s, the building was purchased by Hamilton County. In 1991, a full renovation began to convert the interior into courtrooms and offices of the Court of Domestic Relations. 3/27/17@adoreabullresq RHEA is a spunky and light hearted 4 month old, female, pit mix! She loves running around and playing with her "Greek litter" sibling Ajax, but she's a little more cautious when it comes to the bigger dogs. She loves them just the same, but can be a little more timid at playtime. She loves her crate, and has recently figured out that she loves being held! Mostly because it gives her better access for wet puppy kisses right on your face! This girl is so sweet, and gets so excited when she sees people! It doesn't matter if you've been gone all day or you just walked in from another room, she bounces and jumps around like she's been missing you her whole life! She's fantastic in her crate and is REALLY smart. Recently, she even started going to the door when she needs to go potty, not bad for a 4 month old puppy! She's never met a cat, but is young and sweet enough to learn to have them as friends. Rhea and her siblings were discovered in atrocious conditions, covered in feces and malnourished. We are convinced she knows she was saved, as she shows us every second of every day how much she loves us! Now she is looking for a forever family with whom to share the love! Could it be yours?!
