Thinking about Cinderella's pink and white gown in Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and how she probably designed it after her mother's dress because she never got to wear it
I want a gay Cinderella story where the princess has long accepted she'll marry for political advantage for her kingdom, despite her family being the ones to be like "just also make sure you can live with them and that they're kind and good, etc". They're the ones who open the ball to their own citizens as well as the foreign suitors the princess is most interested in allying with.
And she only deviates from her path when she meets an educated mystery woman from within her own kingdom who challenges her view of foreign alliance in favor of marrying internally, or at the very least considering affection and trust as factors in her marriage.
At first the princess is dismayed and rankled, but the mystery woman makes a compelling argument and soon her ideas take root. When the princess can't stop talking about her and her ideas after the ball, her parents are like "gee, sounds like you have a crush and that she might be a good match for you compared to the dullards you actually wanted for strategy."
So altered, the princess deviates completely from her plan and reorientates herself to finding this woman and asking her for her hand in marriage. Or at the very least, adding her to her council.
The rest of the story can play out as usual, with maybe the mystery woman having some unworthy suitors of her own that her stepmother is pressuring her to marry.
And they all live happily, and politically, after.
If I'm not here things will go bad,
If I won't be here, sure I'll feel guilty.
If I will go out... I'm afraid of what I will find when I'll be back.
Maybe everything will sort out, maybe everything will go perfectly... most probably no. It worth risk it all?
No.
And, if I take time to think it deeply, I didn't even want to go out in the first place.
So... no problem indeed.
So, I love Cinderella. Like, she was my fave growing up (we didn't have Belle yet), and I just loved her. She liked to keep a clean house (yes it was an order, but she found joy in it, which I could totally understand), and talked to animals that in turn loved her, and she was just....always kind. Regardless what happened to her, she was always kind, and that stuck with me. So, when the new Cinderella said, "Have courage and be kind", I sobbed. I thought, "Yes! This is the answer! Have courage of your convictions, know what is right, but by gods, be kind. Understand that others don't understand, help those that need help. Have compassion for suffering and ignorance." Anyway, this is a really long-winded way of saying that we must fight for that which we know is right, but also be kind to those that don't understand just what that is yet. We all have our moments of enlightenment. :)
