I don't understand why people keep trying to make new woke versions of cinderella when the perfect woke cinderella already exists:

Cinderella and the prince are genderswapped

Cinderella has a fairy godperson

The princess immediately recognizes Cinderella as the character she met at the ball, none of this shoe nonsense

The end is NOT them getting married, they just MET

Cinderella gets to the ball through magical intervention, but is still castigated by his fairy godperson to "do something" rather than just dreaming

The stepbrothers are not evil caricatures, nor is the stepmother

There is some acknowledgement of the confusion and strangeness that would result from changing an animal into a human for just one night in order to serve Cinderella

The royal family does take this opportunity to change the antiquated laws about requiring marriage for the heir under a certain timeline, but the story feels no need to tear down the fairy tale monarchical structure in order to do this

Some of the songs are absolute earworms

I don't want anyone asking me why I'm watching Cinderelmo for the first time or why I am unironically enjoying this film but basically in the film the princess has to host a ball and choose a husband by midnight. Typical Cinderella nonsense. As they're making arrangements, the princess asks to invite everyone to the ball, including every monster, and I love her thinking. A ball full of cryptids trying to woo me sounds awesome, and I think we as a society are ready to see that type of Cinderella movie being made. Someone make it happen.

When I was a baby my favorite movie was Cinderelmo which nobody else seems to have heard of?

Anyways my mom looked it up on YouTube and we watched it and I realized that it had a more positive message than Cinderella and was also fucking hilarious.

It's elmo, and a human woman as a Cinderella story retelling. This is for a friend, BTW, so I don't know a lot about it.

[Mod's note: The following propaganda may be sensitive to those with medical trauma.] It's Elmo, and I grew up on this movie. Everytime I was sick or horribly injured Pepe put on this movie. It was the only gift I got from my Bio parents when I was still in foster care, until Grandma and Pepe adopted me. We had the big, bulky VHS tape. The last time I got to watch it I was 10 years old, and I had double foot surgery to correct some deformities, and that's when they found out lidocaine didn't work on me, so I had a 2 hour surgery without painkillers, and then the tape player ate our VHS, and it was a very sad day. To honor my life before, I think CinderElmo should win.
