Another great hike I did in May was a circumnavigation around Brown Mountain. Here're a few photos from that day, as well as the words I wrote about it at the time:
Yesterday, I did a seventeen-mile loop around Brown Mountain. I'd done this hike once before, four years ago and in the summer, and I was curious to see how different the forest was in the spring. I didn't account for the amount of a) snow and b) deadfall I'd encounter, but I still made good time and got to enjoy a lot of creeks and wildflowers that don't exist at that elevation in July. Plus, as the day went on, Mount McLoughlin showed off more and more. Had a nice impromptu lunch with a three-generation family of hikers and their heeler mixes (!), and still got home in time for quiche and tons of pancakes, courtesy of @lrae_art and @kagephd, respectively.
