"because it makes it easier, doesn't it? to pretend that none of this matters. that it's all instinct and nature. no feelings involved." carmilla sighed, wondering why she'd let those words slip past her mouth in the first place. why she'd come back for odette once again, irresistibly pulled into the younger woman's orbit, by her own need to check in on her. her dark eyes lingered on the other as she let the silent drape over the two of them, knowing that no words would be enough to soothe whatever it was odette was feeling. "what do you expect me to do? feed and then go see their family and pay for the funeral? wouldn't that be even crueler." she almost scoffed, but held herself back, the bite in her tone enough of a comment. "or are you still hoping that feeding is not the only option? because i promise you, it is. i've tried to go without, tried to be good, sweetheart. but it doesn't last. you know it was well as i do, the hunger, it's .. stronger than anything else. there is no avoiding it. only accepting the inevitable."
