Usborne titles nominated for 2016 Carnegie!
We’re thrilled with this week’s announcement that 3 of our YA titles have been nominated for the 2016 Carnegie Award. The Last Summer of Us, The Earth is Singing, and Am I Normal Yet? have all (quite rightly!) been selected alongside the crème de la crème of this year’s Children’s publishing.
If you’re anything like us here at Usborne Towers, you’ll want to read as many of the 93 nominations as you can before the winners are announce in June. That’s a lot of books to read in 35 weeks!
So here are 3 reasons why you should read our 3 nominations (if you haven’t done so already):
1. The Bookshop Band composed not one but TWO SONGS in response to The Last Summer of Us, Maggie Harcourt’s bittersweet road trip debut, maybe you’ll be similarly inspired?
2. The Earth is Singing captures the horrific history of the Jews of Riga in the most beautiful way. It’s heartbreaking. It’s a must read.
3. Am I Normal Yet introduces you to The Spinster Club’s Evie, Amber and Lottie: three girls facing down tough issues with the combined powers of friendship, feminism and cheesy snacks. Serious issues dealt with serious wit.
