I love Emma's relationship with Jace and Clary so much. Emma really, really treasures it.

She calls them 'the people who held her hands during the toughest time of her life'. She and Julian trust them to be on their side. Twelve year old her decides they are the ones worth being given information about their brother and enemy. She thinks her talks with Clary are the one thing that's hers, specifically.

Her idolization for and crush on Jace have faded to such a beautiful friendship. She hates giving up the stele he gave her to the Phouka - like this is compared to Julian giving up his dad's old watch. Jace has a photo of her on his phone he can pull up whenever he wants. Clary told her and ONLY her she thought she was going to die. She mentions always wanting to go on a flying motocycle because they have once.

No, I am not going to stop thinking about it.

Emma is so going to be the godmother and fun aunt to the Clace kids. I can just imagine her showing them Cortana and them going 'ooh, shiny!' and then badgering their parents for weapons. She and Izzy and Rebecca and Maia - and you know what, let's throw Lily in too - will be bridesmaids for Clary in her wedding, and no, I will not hear anything against this. The Lightwood-Bane-Herondale-Fairchild-Blackthorn-Rosales-Carstairs-Gray family will live on.

The Next Generation

So here are a few things about the next generation of Shadowhunters that I’ve come up with.

Stefan Lucian Herondale is the 19-year-old eldest child of Clary and Jace Herondale. He bears his mother’s fair complexion and his father’s golden blonde hair. With the same blue eyes of his Herondale ancestors both Tessa and Jem Carstairs have commented on the fact that he looks like a blonde haired Will Herondale, who he shares both his love of books with as well as his protectiveness of his loved ones.

Celina Jocelyn Herondale is the 17-year-old middle child of Clary and Jace Herondale. She has her father’s golden eyes and tan complexion, but her mother’s red hair as well as her height. While she shares most of her personality traits with her father she also shares her mother’s artistic talent. Just as protective over her loved ones as her older brother is, Celina is a force of nature that would do anything it takes to protect those she cares for.

Alexander Simon ‘Xander’ Herondale is the 14-year-old youngest child of Clary and Jace Herondale. With golden blonde hair and radiant green eyes, it is easy for people to see that Xander will be just as attractive as his father, if not more so. Possessing a calm and erudite type of personality he is all too happy to stick to the shadows and allow his older siblings to garner the attention of others.

Rebecca Georgia ‘Bex’ Lightwood is the 17-year-old oldest child of Isabelle Lightwood and Simon Lovelace-Lightwood. With brown hair and blue eyes Bex is just as beautiful as her parabatai, Celina. Often described as being a part-time shadowhunter and a full time fashionista, Bex’s love of fashion is rivaled only by her love for her family. Bex, like many Lightwoods before her, follows the belief of ‘family before law’.

Luke Gideon Lightwood is the 13-year-old middle child of Isabelle Lightwood and Simon Lovelace-Lightwood, as well as the twin brother of Leia. Although he takes after his mother in looks, sharing her black hair and dark eyes, Luke shares most of his personality traits with his father; having the same love for ‘nerdier’ things such as comics and Star Wars.

Leia Grace Lightwood is the 13-year-old youngest child of Isabelle Lightwood and Simon Lovelace-Lightwood, as well as the twin sister of Luke. Sharing the same black hair and dark eyes of her mother and twin, Leia is a wild child and actual ray of sunshine who prefers spending her time in the forests of Idris rather than being in her home city of New York.

Willow Sophia Carstairs is the 14-year-old only child of Tessa and Jem Carstairs. She takes primarily after her father sharing not only his dark hair and eyes, but also his love for violin. While she spends most of her time with her parents she also makes frequent visits to the New York institute in order to spend time with her parabatai, Xander, and her crush, Leia. A hopeless romantic, Willow enjoys hearing stories about her parents’ life together as well as stories about them and Will Herondale.
