Disappointment

Taking a long swig from the silver flask she held so dear, Lyr reviewed the parchment, making a small wince as the spirits made their way down to her belly. *Has a bit of a bite, this one…* she thought to herself as her eyes shot a quick glance at the flask only to return back to the note. “Well….looks like we’ll be going on a field trip to good old Pyrewood…Wildheart…that sounds pretty wild” the rogue murmured with a small snicker as she placed the flask back in her bag, slinging the sack from her side to her back.

Whistling, she strolled over to her quarters to gather some extra stuff. *Nothing much…just get what you need..* She told herself as she grabbed her two daggers and cloak. Pausing for a moment, she peered into the full length mirror. The petite rogue pulled the cloak over herself, fastening a leather belt at the waist to bring her look together. Smiling, she glanced at the reflection one last time before going stealth and moving out. The grounds were quiet for some odd reason but she paid no mind as she scurried towards the wooded area making way towards her destination. The smells of the forest and freshly fallen rain entered her nostrils as she closed her eyes momentarily to savor it. As she made her way, the scent then turned from rain and woods to…burning? Campfire! Yes… Slowing down, she spotted the peak of a worn, cream colored tent. *Ahh….the smell….worgen..there they are…* a cunning, satisfying smile spread on the woman’s red lips as she watched carefully from a distance.

Inching a bit closer, she could finally hear the conversation between two of them. “Trouble in paradise it would seem…” she whispered almost silently as she heard them go back and forth at what their next move should be. The rogue was a bit nervous for some reason and her gut told her to turn back. Shaking her head and frowning a bit, she inched a bit closer, straining to hear or see anything else. It was a pack of the damn dogs which made Lyr wrinkle her nose at the stench they gave off. Wet dog was the worst. *Oh my light…shit stinks* the woman made a mental note of how many were there before stepping back slowly, taking it step by step back. After 5 paces or so, the stench seemed to get stronger. Shuddering, she turned to hop back instead of back up when she slammed right into what appeared to be a worgen scout sleeping on the job.

“Fuck!!” she hissed as her green eyes widened by surprise which mirrored the sleeping scout’s look. Before the dog could react, Lyr shadow danced and in one swift move, sliced his throat open. *fuck fuck fuck fuck…Aurora is gonna kill me!!! So much for fucking subtleness* Glancing around once more, she was relieved to find that she remained unnoticed. *Get rid of it! NOW!* her inner voice demanded. Lyr grabbed the dead worgen by the paws, pulling him to a cliff and discarding the remains. She watched as the corpse descended down the rocky side before disappearing in the rough waters below. A small pang of sadness hit her before she quickly dismissed it. “He would have killed you in a heartbeat had it been the other way around…” she reminded herself. Grimacing, she made her way back to Erudition. Her eyes were sullen and features bleak. She had fucked up…badly. They were a pack..they would look and find their fallen brother. Lyrica shook her head as she trudged along.
