It’s been a bit since I have read the books and don’t recall if Neil spoke about how he came up with the last name Josten, but I have a theory. What if he got last name Josten from seeing fliers for the senior graduation rings at one of his high schools while on the run. There is a pretty big company called Josten’s that does caps+gowns and rings so it would also be a hoot if they had to order their graduation gear from the company at the end of his college years.

I graduated in high school from high school in 1989. I had to buy my own graduation invitations pictures and class ring. I got the absolute cheapest ring they had and I was extremely proud of it. About 2 years after I graduated it fell down a heater grate at someone's house and I never got it back. It absolutely broke my heart.
I graduated college in 1998 but the college rings were about $700 and there were no other options you got this big clunky gold ring and of course after putting myself through college I had no money at all. But I've always wanted a class ring.
So I've been seeing a lot of ads here on Tumblr and on Facebook too for customized class rings starting at about $35. So that is what I did last month. I ordered a ring and I am thrilled with it. So this is my combination college and high school graduation ring. It's got my initials it's got the three exes for straight edge and it's got the name of my university.
That is my yoda Jedi lightsaber ring right next to it. Can you tell my favorite color is green?
I wanted to show it off and if you are thinking about getting a class ring go ahead and do it it was definitely worth it.
This is the company that I got it from. It cost me $35 and I could not be happier.
Class ring lost in Portland 47 years ago is found in Finland
The alumni association had no trouble identifying the ring’s owner. It bore the 1973 graduation date, and the initials “S.M.” were engraved on the inside. Shawn had no middle name, and no one else in his class had those initials.
McKenna has no idea how the long-lost ring ended up in a Finnish forest. She said Shawn spent some time working in Finland in the early 1990s — but he was never near the city where the ring was found. What’s more, he had not seen the ring in 20 years at that point.
In addition to that strange coincidence, Morse High School’s mascot name “Shipbuilders” is written on the side of the ring — and the man who found it works building ships.

In celebrating getting my class ring next Tuesday, I designed gems based off mine and my bf's class rings. He didn't order a gemstone on his, so his is just the metal. I kinda want to draw them more, so maybe!
