An Ode To MySpace Retro | Tom Wilds Out In my post last week, I introduced you all to the wonderful world of MySpace Retro. Toted on even Google as “The Old MySpace”, MySpace Retro sought to take things back to the 2009-era classic MySpace.
MySpace Is BACK?? Cheers To MySpace Retro!
MySpace Is BACK?? Cheers To MySpace Retro!
We all remember the good old days of MySpace. It is where a lot of us learned basic HTML for coding our blinged out profiles. It is where a lot of us found our favourite bands via the site’s music players. It is where we laughed as we caused turmoil throughout our friend groups by changing the order of our Top 8 on a weekly basis.
And then Facebook reared its ugly head and killed it.

How Long Does It Take To Recover MySpace Content?
How Long Does It Take To Recover MySpace Content?
Many of us have held out the hope that many of “The Old MySpace” features would be eventually be incorporated into “The New MySpace”, such as custom playlists, the Bulletin Board (Facebook calls it “the profile wall”) and our beloved MySpace Blogs that we spent years sharing and creating a following with.
Some of us have even tried things like creating a petition for The New MySpace to bring back…

After 9 years in the making (including a >8yr hiatus), it’s finally here: ZINOZEROS #1, a cornucopia of corniness, a deluge of droll, a collaboration of sibling silliness, 16 pages of A5 sized fun. Mostly in German. By Marta Wierzba and me.
Thanks: Stefanie Uhl for the cover & the cyberpiper for the interview (sorry you had to wait so long to see your contributions printed!)
Ask if you want one!
I hope that you forget about your MySpace I hope it slips completely from your mind And I hope it stays up long enough for the next generation to find And I hope that it embarrasses your children I hope their bratty friends all forward it around And I hope that you forget your password So you cannot take it down - MyHope, Molly Lewis
Sorry Molly, your kids will never find your MySpace because starting today the website you once knew, MySpace Classic, is dead. "New Myspace" (no more capital S) has officially launched, branding itself as a social music discovery platform with the support of Justin Timberlake. Today also marks the release of Myspace for iOS, a free app featuring user-crafted radio stations and a GIF maker.
They've come a long way. Chris Vanderhook, Myspace co-owner, admits "We pay a lot of attention to what the sentiment is toward the brand, and when we acquired MySpace we were at over 90% negative. But if you look on Twitter today, it's over 80% positive. And we're not doing any marketing — just focusing on product that serves the artist community."
The timing might be just right. Facebook is falling out of favor with teens; and, while Tumblr is on the rise, it's more of a blogging platform than anything else. Maybe the new social network we need is an old one?
Note: If you still want to be friends with Tom, he's active on Google+.
