Dancing Fairies ("Älvalek") by August Malmström (oil on canvas, 1866) Morning mist turning into fairies, or is it the other way around? Elves and fairies are well known entities of Norse myth, often seen as tender, delicate and sensitive but also playful and capricious, and it's exactly what Malmström was able to capture here. Note the beautiful details as one of them descends over the water to catch a glimpse of her image, while others to the far right look into eachother's eyes in an almost intimate way.
