Sorry for the sudden, unannounced hiatus, folks. Things got a little crazy around here for a couple days, and by the time it cleared up I’d gotten out of the writing habit and was stricken with severe writer’s block. I’ll try not to let it happen again. But now I’m back, with Seer of Breath for felinedetached!
Breath represents freedom and detachment.
Seers lack their aspect, and must look for it.
A Seer of Breath struggles to free themselves from restraints.
The Seer of Breath has the misfortune of living in an environment that has no patience for any sort of shenanigans or tomfoolery. They have responsibilities (ick) that they ought to be taking care of! Perhaps their caretakers are grooming them for some important position. Maybe they are expected to conform to unreasonable standards. Maybe they’re being brainwashed into a mindless worker drone (literally or figuratively). Whatever the case, free thought is NOT permitted.
Breath players are often a little goofy. It’s a common side effect of the amount of freedom their Aspect grants them - Breath has a tendency to do the first thing that pops into it metaphorical head, which leads to randomness and odd behavior. The Seer of Breath is no different; a little off, a little distant, floating through life disconnected from the world. They are fascinated with how and why people make choices when allowed to do so; they are likely to pester everyone around them with questions. “Why did you do this? Why did you do that?”
For as much as the Seer is a free spirit, their highly regimented background makes it difficult for them to wrap their heads around the idea of spontaneity. They tend to think of choices in the context of “decisions” - conscious choices made for calculated reasons to fulfill an objective. This run heavily counter with the true point of Breath, which is to forget objectives and go with the flow, doing whatever “feels” right at any given moment in time. Instead, the Seer tries to understand Breath within the context of their rigid lifestyle, like trying to cram a round peg into a square hole.
The Seer’s path to full realization often involves relinquishing control, and this is especially true for the Seer of Breath. It is not easy for them to accept, or even understand, that sometimes things just happen, and there is no particular purpose or reasoning. Instead of forever questioning why someone performs a certain action, the Seer must learn to look at the how - their behaviors, their tendencies. In the same way a practiced farmer can predict the weather from the way the wind blows, a fully realized Seer of Breath should be able to predict the actions of others, not due to some great understanding of their motivations, but by learning the emotional “weather” - the attitudes and emotions that precede each choice they make.
Seers receive visions of/from their Aspect, and use them to guide others.
Breath affects the literal air and weather, as well as motion and randomness.
The Seer of Breath receives visions carried on the wind and can predict the motion of anything which touches air.
Air is ubiquitous and freeform. It flows unimpeded past all barriers and through the tiniest gaps. If the winds could be said to have memories, then it would know all the greatest, juiciest secrets by simple virtue that there would be no way off keeping it away. The Seer of Breath can capitalize on this, as the Breeze whispers secrets into their ear and shows them visions of near and far. Their normal vision and hearing is also radically enhanced. Notably, unlike some Seers, the Seer of Breath is more likely to offer options and possibilities then straightforward “do this to achieve that” guidance. The power of this Seer is meant to help make the right choices, not follow preordained guidelines.
Upon reaching full realization, the Seer of Breath learns to literally free their mind from the boundaries of physicality. By projecting their consciousness through the air, the Seer can observe anything happening anywhere, so long as a single breath of wind can reach the target location. They can track the faintest trails and see the vaguest of clues; it is almost impossible to escape the notice of this all-seeing Seer.
