Classpect Meanings (as of 6/26/25)

Introduction to my Classpecting Ideas
This felt like a good idea for something to put out before I put my Knight & Page analysis out there, since I plan on making this a 6 part series. (Potentially 7 if demand for a Lord/Muse addendum is high enough).
So, I'll be laying out my most important philosophies on the subject here for future reference.
Classpecting is...
Point A. Classpecting is malleable.
There is not one rigid, set definition for any Class pair, or any Aspect pairing. The freedom of the author is that they may assign any symbolism to a concept that they may like.
What I mean by this is that people often seem to think that manifestations of an Aspect within Homestuck's narrative paint that object or idea as a concept inherently tied to that Aspect.
Example: Pumpkins & Void. You would not believe the amount of people in the early fandom who swore by the idea that pumpkins were inherently just Void constructs because of their role in Homestuck's narrative.
No? Pumpkins symbolise Void in Homestuck itself and Homestuck itself only only due to a running gag inherent to Homestuck itself.
Anything, with enough narrative basis and existing thematic ties, can serve to symbolise an Aspect. Furthermore, two different authors may have different ideas of what Aspect something represents.
Some authors may see alcohol, for example, as a Void-bound concept owing to its obfuscation of fair judgement. Some may see it as a Light-bound concept owing to the idea of 'in vino veritas' and the tendency of drunkenness to induce truthful confessions. Some may see it as a Life-bound concept owing to its associations with hedonism and impulsive behaviour.
With enough narrative consistence, anything is possible. Homestuck's narrative is not as rigid of a point of reference as some people would swear by it being. This is deeply important.
Point B. Classpecting is not the whole of a character.
I can't exactly phrase this in a satisfactory manner, but... a Classpect is not a personality type in of itself. An individual being a Prince of Heart does not instantly make them Dirk Strider. It merely means that their core value is identity & selfhood, and they interact with it by destroying it. It is that simple!
I see, time and time again, Classpecting blogs acting as if a Classpect is indicative of a character's whole personality and giving guides as to the exact behaviours & quirks a character with that Classpect should have.
I am imploring you to explore wider possibilities when it comes to this. Even if it means sharing a title with a canon character! It doesn't mean you have to just rewrite that canon character because that's not how Classpecting works.
I've seen fanventure characters share titles with canon characters. (Sovereignstuck's Annomi Errata & Dynama Zarrow sharing titles with Dirk & Porrim respectively, and Porrim herself is also a player in that narrative, mind you!)
I've seen fanventure characters share titles with eachother. (Vast Error's Dismas Mersiv is a Rogue of Mind. One of my fantrolls is also a Rogue of Mind!)
In every instance, they are fundamentally different people. I cannot put it any simpler than this.
Point C. Classpecting is always applicable.
That is the perfection of the Classpecting system. You can give a title to any character, from anything ever made. It's not even that difficult if you're half-decent at media analysis!
Quite literally all you need to do is ask yourself two questions.
"What's this character's core value?" and "How do they interact with that?" Do that, and you've got yourself a Classpect.
That's the beauty of it! It's obviously not going to be as airtight as a story that has the Classpecting system baked directly into the narrative, but it's still going to work out!
Hell, do it to yourself! Do it to your friends! The world's your oyster. You can do anything you want, forever, for the rest of time. I'm a Seer of Life! My best friend is a Page of Blood! My mother is a Witch of Hope! Go wild.
Post formatting
For my Classpecting posts, I'll aim to give two related definitions for every Class.
Definition A is the narrative function, what the Class says about the person and how they interact with their Aspect as an abstract concept.
Definition B is the practical function, what the Class says about their role in the session and how they interact with their Aspect as a SBURB construct.
Therefore, we get an idea of both the abstract, personal definition of a Classpect, and the functional, game application of a Classpect.
I'll also aim to give about two or three examples for each individual title about how you could write a character with them, since there are always going to be multiple directions you can take with a Classpect.
Conclusion
tl;dr - what I'm trying to say is this. Classpecting is malleable, easily applicable & capable of saying any number of things, and my posts will aim to give two concise definitions of both narrative and practical function for every title.
I'll get the Knight:Page analysis done either today or tomorrow, and the rest of the Class posts will be staggered releases in order of poll results. Thus, the order is going to be:
Knights & Pages, Deficiency and Exploitation.
Mages & Seers, Experience and Comprehension.
Witches & Heirs, Adherence and Manipulation.
Princes & Bards, Instability and Destruction.
Thieves & Rogues, Inundation and Redistribution.
Maids & Sylphs, Maintenance and Generation.
And, potentially...
7. Lords & Muses, Absolution and Dominion.
And then, subsequently, the order for the Aspect posts, which I've decided based on relevance to the canon, roughly speaking anyways...
Space & Time, Genesis and Terminus.
Breath & Blood, Fluidity and Stability.
Light & Void, Potential and Simplicity.
Heart & Mind, Instinct and Dialectics.
Life & Doom, Progress and Stagnation.
Hope & Rage, Conviction and Iconoclasm.
I look forward to the next post. Until then, take care.
Seer of Breath
Seer- see and understand their aspect. They use the information to manipulate it.
Breath- major themes of freedom, air, wind, breath, and flexibility. Minor themes of direction and change.
The Seer of Breath. One that sees and understands freedom, air, and direction. Through it, they control it.
One with the Force.
Abilities
Flow
The Seer of Breath is one that sees direction and change, one that understands the flow, the movement of past to present and then to future. The Seer is capable of following the trajectory of objects, people, and events and the ways they move and play out. To the Seer, every move made has weight and they can determine each possible outcome. This could give the Seer a superhuman sense of balance and agility, having a keen awareness of their weight and motion. They may even develop an immunity to vertigo.
At lower levels the oracle is probably something of a predictor, someone with a strong analytical side, either logical or emotional, for things. Someone that pays attention to plot themes, someone that wants to guess the mystery before it is revealed. The Seer is capable of small forms of divination, using the sky, movement of clouds, the flight patterns of birds, pendulums, or other similar methods to help them focus on the path of things. The winds of fate blow and they can feel it, using some focus to find developing patterns. They are susceptible to an overexposure of information, with a large number of variables quickly confusing them and drowning them with possibilities.
At medium levels the Seer’s acuity has developed into a flow state, being able to tap into the path of least resistance and follow its course, naturally able to shift into this state and being able to push others into it. This flow state is characterized by extreme awareness of one’s body and surroundings, giving them precise and fluid movement, increased efficiency, and incredible evasion. This state is so firmly In The Zone it is quick and efficient action and supreme reaction, akin to Ultra Instinct or Spider Sense. While this flow state is powerful, it requires a degree of focus to use, being disrupted by mental chaos, such as fear, anger, overstimulation, etc.
At higher levels the Seer’s flowstate is constant, effortless, having learned to let go and find peace in the process. Very little could disrupt the Seer’s flow state, able to keep a calm and clear head in even the most hectic of situations. Through this flow state the Seer may have reached a sort of transcendence past mental effects, allowing effects like sonic screeches or mind control to simply bounce off their brain. As the Seer’s flow state is perfected, so are their allies, allowing their entire team to move through and past any obstacle, no matter how difficult or daunting. There is always a path of least resistance, always a way out through or out.
Listen to the wind
The Seer of Breath is one that senses the literal air and wind, enhancing their senses of hearing and smell many times over. The Seer looks outwards to the world around them, able to sense the air and all movement therein with incredible accuracy. They detect everything in the air and all that moves through it.
At early levels the Seer has exceptional hearing or smell, able to accurately pick out minor sounds or scents with clarity, even over considerable distances. Even faint traces could be detected by the Seer. As the seer begins to hone their abilities they would realize they possess a 6th sense for the air, able to feel movements and shifts in it. These shifts can be something moving quickly and causing air disturbances to something so minor as being able to sense the breathing of a creature from a few yards away. The air always gives away who was near, the physical traces of their breath lingering in the air as carbon dioxide.
As the Seer of Breath progresses further, these ranges and accuracy will develop rapidly. The range of the immediate area quickly becoming almost line of sight, hundreds or even thousands of feet. Their senses would grow to even encompass others, able to pass through allies and even enemies, tapping into their sense of hearing or smell. They may be able to create small familiars to act as spies, tracers, and audio bugs. Creatures can simply speak the name of the Seer out loud and it can get their attention, even across vast distances. The Seer is always listening… and if they’re the Terezi sort, they are always smelling, too. They may have developed a sort of echolocation, sense tremors in the earth, or hear radio waves.
At higher levels the Seer’s senses easily encompass entire worlds, possibly even the entire session itself. Every movement, every shift, down to the movement of atoms. The Seer of Breath can hear the vibration of molecules and the sound of distant murmuring horrorterrors. Or perhaps they can smell your organs from miles away, pursuing you as a bloodhound, tracking everywhere you have been to everywhere you will go.
At their greatest level of awareness the Seer has unlocked a sort of psychometry, able to find traces on objects, people, or places, far too small for any other being to detect. A loose grain of sand that could only be from a particular desert, a distinct sound that could only come from a metal pot built in the 1800s, etc. Truly BBC Sherlock levels of absurd deductions.
Skills
Omnilingual- you can speak and read every language (including all consorts, excluding other denizens)
Omnitone- You have incredible control over your voice, able to speak in extremely quiet or loud volumes

SEER OF VOID BEAM!!!!
Literally reverse rose lalonde, very nice.
The Seer is someone who studies their main Aspect by using its opposite as a source. Rose consulted the Horrorterrors and Doc Scratch (an entity she didnt exactly knew very well about and used to leave pretty vague about information although he infact did never lie) as a way to get information (Light), and Terezi used roleplay and impersonation/assumption (Heart motif) as a way of tracing logic (Mind) between the facts.
Void is the Aspect that deals with vagueness in general. It doesn't necessarily embody inexistence although it is one of its motifs, more likely it is the stuff that it's there but its not plainly obvious to the naked eye. That's also why i believe invisible energy/connection is one of Void's motifs, due to the abundance of internet signal on the Furthest Ring and the Fenestrated Planes being a thing.
The Seer of Void would be someone who wants to learn about Void by getting it through Light. This is more likely someone who would consult every type of readable source about Void there is to know the most of. Someone who would try to comprehend the uncomprehendable with information. You could have someone that tries to understand the Horrorterrors by consulting every bit of information there is, someone who wants to understand ignorance by doing detailed studies of it, someone who wants to comprehend mysteries or possibly find clues by using special glasses/visions, and many more stuff.
The Seer's growth is that he needs to take care of himself to NOT be corrupted by his opposite Aspect to the point where it forbiddens him. Rose had this in a more literal sense with her Grimdark form symbolizing her blind trust in the Horrorterrors's words and Terezi had in a more metaphorical sense with her feelings (Heart) interrupting her in the most crucial hours and preventing her from doing the right thing, like her not killing Gamzee on [S] GAME OVER for example.
This gets really interesting when we're talking about a Seer of Void. Maybe this Seer doesn't really get to know Void very well exactly because he's only studying theoretical information about it and isn't properly experiencing it, or maybe something more literal like his binding to Light makes him more of a target/enemy to the Horrorterrors than an ally, or maybe even a opposite Grimdark form if you want to play with that.
Anyway, the general rule of the Seer is that they want to comprehend their main Aspect by studying their opposite in some way. In this Seer's case he wants to comprehend vagueness by getting information about it. Make of that what you will.
HOMESTUCK CLASSES EXPLAINED… badly
WITCHES: the aspect’s personal bitch until they decide it’s their turn to top
HIERS: the aspect’s poorly disguised self insert with unnecessary amounts to plot armor
MAGES: gets traumatized by their hyper-fixation for plot reasons
SEERS: HOLY SHIT ITS TIRESIAS FROM THE ODYSSEY!!!!
PRINCES: aspect-phobic crusaders with anger issues who makes hating this broad concept their entire personality
BARDS: green aura and flies taken to its most lethal state.
MAIDS: don’t you hate it when you try to put on the fitted sheet on the bed but the corners keep getting loose?
SYLPHS: your fairy god mother who has no sense of personal space and consent
THIEVES: [This description has 8een stolen 8y the thief of light ::::)]
ROUGES: the communist party your government warned you about
KNIGHTS: when you mask so hard it becomes your superpower
PAGES: IM A GOOFY GOOBER ROCK 🎸🎸🎸
Royal AU where everyone actually plays the role of their classes. Dave and Karkat as the knights, Dirk and Eridan as the princes, John as the heir to the throne (or ig just straight up king), Rose and Terezi as advisors to the king/heir, Jane and Aradia as maids, Roxy and Nepeta as Robinhood kind of characters, so on and so on
can you do seer of heart if you havent already? ^^
:0 oooo. okay this is a fun one. i quite like seer of heart, due to how seers and the seer class interact(s) with the aspect. there's a lot of ways you can interpret it, but i see seer of hearts being very focused on what comes next, and very specifically what that means for them. they're reckless, but they're overplanners, if that makes sense. the abilities they can have go very hand-in-hand with that, of course, with their abilities being very similar to seer of mind and the sort of potential-based/ person-based future telling they have. heart in general is just fun, and quite seer-like, in my opinion. thanks for asking in! ^^
If your backlog of requests isn't too daunting, could I ask what you'd make of a Seer of Hope?
Seer of Hope ⋮ The Sage of Faith and Dreams 🪽
A Seer of Hope's action title would be "Understands Hope or Understands through the knowledge provided of Hope." They'd be one of the most reliable positive forces in a session, not because they simply believe in the victory of their session, but because they're aware that no matter how dark it is- a session's hope is never lost.
