British Craft Trade Fair - April 2016
This is a long overdue post about my experience at the British Craft Trade show in Harrogate back in April. It’s probably a good sign that i’ve been too busy to post anything up until now! I decided to go with a black and white photo too, because it was a few of the most exhausting days I have ever experienced. That being said it was well worth it and I met some really lovely crafters and designers.
I was really apprehensive about taking part in a big event, but the BCTF reputation for being the friendliest trade show around was not wrong. The organisers were amazing and everything ran really smoothly.
I am happy to say that the show was successful for Claudia Made This. I now have some fantastic new stockists all over the country. Check them out on my website www.claudiamadethis.com to see where you can pick up some of my jewellery.
The trade show was made even better because of the atmosphere around me, the lovely other makers including; Paper Lilac , Lauren Healy’s Colourful World, Katie Johnston Jewellery, Joanna Lloyd Glass , The Perky Painter and Jordanne Cliffe - To name just a few!

I've got a really hectic couple of days coming up, so this won't be the longest post! Tomorrow (Thursday 27th November) I will be at The Hillcrest Country Market in Newhaven for our Christmas event from 9:45 - 2pm. If you don't know it, The Hillcrest Centre is a treasure in Newhaven! On offer every week are delicious homemade cakes, pies, readymade curries, Jams, Eggs, knitted goods and crafts as well as jewellery from me!
Right after The Hilcrest I am heading to Brighton to set up my display at ArtForty7 Artists Open House. I will be leaving plenty of my new necklaces and gorgeous gold, silver and copper leaf earrings. So plenty of perfect Christmas gifts there!
Finally on Friday I will be selling my jewellery at Meads Magic in Eastbourne. I took part in this Christmas market last year and it was a great event for all the family. It was really busy and I met lots of lovely customers. I couldn't feel my feet by the end of it, but it was still worth it!
The Fairytale Fair - The Open Market Brighton 23rd November 2014
Last Sunday it was cold, miserable and very, very wet! But even that didn't stop the shoppers heading out to the totally magical Fairytale Fair. I had a brilliant day (even if I couldn't feel my toes) and the event was buzzy and fun.
The organiser Claire Montgomery of Cat-a-Cake Creations (http://www.catacakecreations.co.uk) did a fantastic job. The Brighton Lindy Hoppers got everyone up dancing and The Patcham Band got us all in the festive mood.
I myself was trying out a new display (see above) and I had a great reaction from customers. I sold one of my favourite necklaces (amongst others) and lots of my brand new keychains. So I am going to be really busy making more for the other Christmas events I am taking part in over the next few weeks!

Etc Interview
Earlier this year I had an interview with Etc magazine about Claudia Made This & We Made This markets. It was a nerve racking experience, but I did enjoy it. Although I have decided to take a break from running markets to concentrate on the other work, i'd still say I was in 'Crafty Business!'

New Beginnings
So I thought it was about time I started blogging about Claudia Made This. I am not promising that it's going to regularly updated, because I am honestly not sure who would be interested in reading about my jewellery, but here goes!
I have been crafting for several years now, I started working with polymer clay during my degree and launched Claudia Made This fully after I graduated in the Summer or 2014. It was a tough year, starting not only Claudia Made This, but also running my own market 'We Made This' in Brighton as well as freelancing as a Visual Merchandiser.
My life is still really hectic, but I hope I have got the balance right now!
Claudia Made This jewellery is largely made from polymer clay, or as you might know it better, Fimo. I love working with the clay, as the possibilities are endless! I have just started work on some beautiful silver and gold leaf pieces, which I hope to make available soon in my Etsy shop.
I sell my work at a number of Craft fairs, as well as in my Etsy and brand new Folksy shop. I will make sure I write a post about my upcoming Christmas markets and events too!
My jewellery is also stocked in Present in the Laine, and The Cactus Gallery in Brighton and I am always on the look out for new stockists!
Thank you for reading!
