I saw another post talking about how it’s weird that Odysseus’ Sa from calypso is not included in epic and I wanted to come and talk about myself
I also think it’s a little odd that Odysseus’s Sa is left out, at the most calypso makes sexual and comments that Odysseus is comfortable with but that’s the only thing that is actually cannon
I understand that Jorge cut out the fact that Odysseus and Circe slept together bechase that’s still heavily debated wether it’s cheating or not (I personally think it counts as assault but that’s not what I’m here to talk about) but with Calypso it is so obvious that it’s assault
I just feel like Jorge could’ve handled it differently, he’s clearly not shy to include SA due to the whole Penelope segment in “hold them down” and theirs also the whole fact that at the end of “I’m not sorry for loving you” Odysseus says that he loves calypso platonically and that’s just so weird, calypso keeps Odysseus trapped, not Zeus, Athena says that SHE kept him trapped out his control
so for Odysseus to say that he platonically likes the person who kept him captive and made sexual comments to him makes me really uncomfy, Odysseus is of course aloud to understand that she is trapped and lonely but for him to like her as a person?? I just feel like it’s a but unreasonable
anyways to wrap this up Jorge definitely could’ve handled this better and have made Odysseus’s opinion on calypso a bit more realistic
