I did a quick drawing exercise for the first time in like 93 million years. And by quick I mean like, 20 minutes and only one layer.

The death of the doomed moons, Cupid and Belinda. These small and relatively unknown moons of Uranus orbit very closely to each other around their parent planet, separated by less than a thousand kilometers at their closest approach. As gravity would suggest, this will not end well for the two moons, and it has been estimated that the two will one day pass too close to each other, and either collide or rip each other to shreds under tidal forces. Although this will be a terrible day for the two moons, it will prove a good day for the planet's rings, as the debris created in the catastrophe will eventually become a new ring around Uranus. As for when this will occur, it isn't known specifically when, but some estimates claim that it could be as soon as happening in the next thousand years or so. The two moons themselves are as I said before, very small, with the larger of the two (Belinda) being approximately 80km across and elongated, whereas the smaller (Cupid) is only approximately 18km across and were discovered in 1986 and 2003 respectively. A new piece I did in a couple hours today. I decided since it was nearly 3 years ago when I started this page, and one of the first things I posted was the star Betelgeuse, I would have to redraw it. Anyhow, the Red Supergiant, Betelgeuse, Alpha Orionis, is a Ten Million year old Monster that takes the phrase "live fast, die young" pretty spectacularly literally, as giant stars do. The behemoth, the size of which means that if it were placed in our solar system, would extend out to the orbit of Jupiter, is at the end of it's life and is obviously barely held together. The surface resembles a walnut and appears almost to be boiling, many irregular bubbles forming and dissipating. The fate of Betelgeuse and other stars of this enormous mass is it's explosive Death as a Type II Supernova, in which the star's core will experience a cataclysmic collapse into a Neutron Star or Black hole. This explosion will outshine all the stars in the galaxy briefly, and despite it's 640 lightyear distance from Earth, it will appear as though we have a second sun for a while.

As part of @planet-bryyo‘s Metroid Art Challenge, the first in a series of four I plan to do. This is probably the first time I’ve drawn in about 5 or 6 weeks, and my hand is absolutely dead though... so the rest might take a while.
Kinda breaking my aversion to drawing stuff to do with the Earth-Moon system here (not to mention the idea of "space") but eh.
I present my interpretation of the catastrophic Minoan Eruption, which occurred approximately 3600 years ago on the Greek Island of Santorini, becoming one of the largest Eruptions in 'recent' recorded history.
At the time, the Island of Santorini was known as Thera, and was home to a Colony of the Bronze Age Minoan Civilization from the Island of Crete. The Minoans are often considered to be Europe's first true civilization, and the first one in Europe to enter the Bronze age. The empire was the most powerful in the region at the time, and spread across the Aegean Sea to many colonies on neighbouring Islands, including the colony of Akrotiri.
At the height of the empire's reign, the volcano in the center of the Island erupted, some regarding the eruption to be VEI 7 (On a scale of 1 to 8), meaning that up to or over 100 km^3 of Ash and Pumice was ejected from the volcano in a pyroclastic column, blanketing the Island and the nearby sea in a thick layer of suffocating ash, blocking out the sun and destroying crops. After the magma chamber emptied, the Island collapsed into the sea, leaving the remnant caldera islands that remain today.
This eruption destroyed the colony of Akrotiri, and led to the eventual collapse of the Minoan Civilization completely. The most interesting side-effect of this however, would be that it's Location and the way in which this happened suggests to some that it could potentially be the original inspiration behind the Legend of Atlantis from the writings of Plato, especially as since the Minoans would have been one of the most advanced and powerful civilizations in the region at that time.
